Couldn't agree with you more. This particular tree was just toooo close to the house and too many activities going on under it.

Yup it is. Don't get to spend as much time out here as I'd like but spending more time this fall than past years.

I'll have to look at my 1st yr again but I don't remember it having that cover plate. Interesting.

Thanks Steffen...Yeah that's it. I saw a Contra sell on eBay a year or so ago with one. I just didn't bid high enough - but all I really wanted was the handle.

Thanks...I mow under this one, the dog plays under it, we sled under it and we walk to the garden under it so it had to come down. We were gone for the summer so I thought for sure the high winds we get would bring it down but no such luck...

You are absolutely correct...it is 12" DBS (that's Diameter By Stump)! LOL

Can you give me a link to this post by woodboss83? I've searched and not found it. I really want one of those side handles for my 1st year contra which has the holes in the side cover.

This 12 inch hickory, widow maker, was snapped off near the top in a wind storm this spring and has been worrying me ever since. Since it was caught up in the branches of an adjacent tree I hoped the top, at least, would come down in a high wind with no-one near it when it did. But it never...

Just thought I'd drop by and upload a couple pics of the IEL RA poster I just mounted on my shop wall. It's very nice, almost exactly to size with the RA. I copied it in high res from a NOS RA double page brochure and had it printed on canvas. I had to have two made in order to get the price...

Absolutely great collection... I've been trying to find one of those side handles for years. Did you buy that whole saw off eBay about a year ago? If so you won against me. LOL If anyone knows how to make one of these I'd buy one... So have you found a source for rebuild kits for the Bing...
