Am I up sheets creak ?

Just turn your L screw out a fourth to half a turn. That should slow your idle speed to stop your chain from spinning.

    Another what wood is this

It's been awhile Mark, I'm here I Kendallville. We've talked on the phone years ago, lots of Allis-Chalmers discussion I believe. I think you helped with the trade I made with CB Farmall, the Olympic 999 for the Stihl 056. I should have kept that 999. Hackberry is a cousin to the Elms...

First pic is Hackberry. Look at the warty bark and blue/gray stains in the wood.

Hello from Nanuk of the North with Mr Farmsaw

Nice post, I agree those are great saws. If you were closer, I'd make you a deal. I have 2 Farmsaw project saws that have been sitting for a decade. Everytime I run a Pioneer or one of the Poulan Pros, they surprise me with the power they have. You need to run a Poulan BP 655. Basically...

    RIP Gypo Logger {John Lambert}

He was a great woodsman. Anybody have a link to his obituary?

Like others have said, small triangle file, only takes a few minutes, works great.

Want to Buy Alpina parts wanted

Yeah, I would have sent you a PM about the saw. However, since I'm not a supporting member here I can't do private messages anymore. I made you a similar offer on Facebook. So could message you there. Thanks Tom E.

Another 056 ignition fix - almost

I lost the spark on my beloved 056. I read about all the fix options but didn't like the choices. Just on a hunch I bought an aftermarket 070 coil for about 15 bucks. With some dremel work I was able to fit the 070 components on the 056 coil plate. It worked, fat blue spark for less than...

    What's Wrong With This Tree

Water is an important thing, however I would bet it has birch borer. Look for holes in the bark and soft dead patches in the bark.

Want to Buy Partner P100 carburetor options

Aftermarket Partner K1200 carbs are cheap and available, you may have to adjust the linkage some but they bolt right on. K1200 is the cutoff saw version of the P100. They use the same piston and cylinder and many other parts.

    Partner Chainsaw Thread

An aftermarket Husky 55 coil will bolt right on and costs around 15 bucks. Order several, they fit most Partner saws. I probably have an extra handle somewhere. Are you in the lower 48?

    Partner Chainsaw Thread

Mark, I've got a half dozen P100/Mc 1000's but the only manual oiler button I have seen is a flat metal thumb tab. The blue lever is the choke isn't it? Did you ever get the BP-1 gas tank I sent you a year or so ago? Tom

    ignition chip

I'm going to try to post a photo. This is a McCulloch Super 250 with an aftermarket Husky 55 coil. Original metal laminate bolted to the saw in original position. Center leg was cut out to make room for the solid state coil. One bolt holding new coil in place. I do not have the kill switch...

    ignition chip

I have another technique that I've used successfully on over a dozen vintage saw coils, especially McCullochs. Instead of spending ten bucks or more on a chip, just get a Husky 55 aftermarket solid state coil. Take your old school coil off the metal laminate. Then just drill holes in your old...
