Stock saw rules vary from no modificatins to a full race saw without a pipe. The rules vary from show to show. Some shows provide the saws, those are good ones to start at. You have the right idea, go to the shows and ask questions.

There is a clutch installation tool for the 36 & 41. Bailey's has them. I don't know how to do it without one.

Most of those thngs run custom bars (Canon made some IIRC), 1/2" or 404 chain, and no clutch - the sprocket is keyed to the crank.
