Best way to carry logs on my tractor?

I wish I could afford a forwarder. But I am happy with my log rack on a running gear and skidsteer with a grapple bucket. The log rack on the running gear just slips into pockets so I can pull it off if I need to. Billy

    Pictures Wanted: Tables!

Here's a white cedar table and chairs my friend Gary built. The base is a hollow cedar stump. And I gave him the cedar posts for the chairs from trees knocked down from building trails on my property. He cut his own lumber on his wood mizer. After I saw how nice it turned out I...

Thats great that you can get out and work with him! Wish you had a video so I could hear that baby running. I have always considered it to be a crawler when used for agricultural purposes usually with out a blade. Billy

    Snowplows!

I am using a M9000 kubota with a backblade and FEL. But I am getting tired of backing over my snow so I can push it up in a pile. But I prefer my farmall 130 Billy

    More wood haulers

Cool Mo-Iron Is it on a regular running gear? I got one last year and just got fixing it up. I still have to get stake pockets on it and side racks. Its a old IH gear but it has what looks like a truck frame under it. But thats the way it was factory built. Billy

    Sawmill questions and locator

On my Dad's LT 40 woodmizer with manual log lock. The shortest log that would be able to clamp on it was 4 1/2 feet. But as MtnGun said the with is no where near what you will get with a CSM. Billy

    Ben Foley?

Sorry I don't know anything about it. But it looks a lot nicer than mine. Hopefully someone else can help you out. Billy

    Ben Foley?

I haven't heard of that one but if its Foley-Belsaw they have been around forever and are still in business and you can get parts for them. The one I am using I got from my grandpa and is over 30 years old. Its a little sloppy from years of use but it still does a good job. I don't know how it...

    ATV versus UTV??

I have a 2002 Kodiak 400 and a 2008 Kawasaki mule 3010 diesel. And they both have there place. But the atv is usually just used to ride around in now. Or when its really wet or muddy. The two things I like best about it are that you can just jump in and don't have to climb on. And I can drive...

    Ya gotta hear this one!

Well he did a lot better than some 45 yr old friend of my cousins. The guy wanted to borrow a tractor so my cousin took his 8N ford over told him he had to turn on the gas when he used it and turn it off when he was done. He gets it started and it stalls out forgetting to turn the gas on. So he...

Thanks Mike I hope to build a cabin in a year or two. And want to build my own cabinets and stuff so I know what I can do. And get a better idea on how to saw up the wood so my projects are easier. Billy

    Log wizzard on Stihl MS180

Thats gotta be making a lot of dust. Did you check the cooling fins and flywheel to make sure it was not plugged up. I was building some cedar slabwood shelves last week. Some I had put up with the bark on and it was dried out and seemed like it was glued on dulled my draw knife and I about had...

Live edge, 1/4 round and slab wood shelves

Then it was time to put it up. I used some of the 1/4 round to make the shelf end pieces. I free hand cut the ends of the shelf with a chainsaw and got a little off but I had just eyeballed it and cut didn’t mark it at all. And shaped a old 2x6 I had laying around for center supports. I was...
