Want to Sell stihl 034 super

I just now saw this. Do you still have the saw?

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

One of them has had an aftermarket carb put on it. I'll check it out, but I reckon it'll be a hundred dollar fix. New OEM ones are pricey.

What is your favorite source of aftermarket parts for old Stihls?

Thanks. Do you like the carbs Duke's sells? Also, what brand of seals do you like best?

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

Has anyone used those Duke's WT-194 clones? Just curious. $25 is a pretty low price, but...

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

I had quite a spell of CAD the past month or so, and I ended up with some very nice saws. Along with the runners were a couple of 026s I can't start. Both will run for a second with a cc of mix squirted into the carb, but they don't stay running. Both were supposedly runners, but, oh well. I...

Stihl MS440 cylinder. Is it garbage?

That cylinder does not look bad to me. I have had success cleaning aluminum transfer before. Andy (Lakeside) walked me through the process a while back. Q-tips and muriatic, and purple cleaner to neutralize afterward. Aluminum transfer come off green on the swab. Keep changing swabs until...

What is your favorite source of aftermarket parts for old Stihls?

Good morning. Hope this finds y'all doing well. I seem to have relapsed a bit on my CAD, and I now have some more nice old "0" series saws. I'd post a list in my sig, but I like the links to the now pictureless threads from another era, two of which I hope to replenish the images one of these...

Like-New 028 AV Super VS New Echo?

That relationship is worth a whole lot. You might make a new friend, one who can share and encourage your new hobby with you. Chainsaws are tons of fun, and if you are not really experienced with them, learning (and practicing) safety is time well spent. One thing I trained myself to do is hit...

    500i squashed. With a vengeance.

That is remarkable work. Do you think the OP's case would weld up strong on those thin pieces of webbing? I know I couldn't do it. I remember some 056 Mag 2 cases where these bolt holes on the flywheel side were kind of hogged out. I fixed them with JB Weld and a ring of copper tubing in the...

Opinions on Forester chain compared to Stihl

I found a few years ago that Oregon chain seemed a lot easier to file than Stihl chain, which tells me it is softer. Not necessarily a bad thing, but worth noting. Remember the old black handle Buck knives? I spent hours trying to hand sharpen one, and I decided I like Blackjack knives a whole...

    Stihl 026 crank seals

The seal puller made by Stihl is still available sometimes on FleeceBay, and it is well worth having. I noticed the other day that Holzforma the Chinese knockoff company now sells an imitation of the same tool, and from what I can tell they look identical. It's kind of a weird process, but...

    Stihl 026 crank seals

Does Stihl still carry seals for these saws?

Opinions on Forester chain compared to Stihl

Good morning gents, I happened upon an article comparing chains, and they like Oregon better than Stihl for homeowner use in softwood, which I figure the homeowner would need to be good with a file on mild steel. I found their choice of full chisel chain was Forester. They claim it's hard and...

    500i squashed. With a vengeance.

I wonder if it would be that bad to use if there were a way to strap it all together just so it would stay in one piece. I have one of these saws, and it is so smooth that you might not even notice that lack of antivibe, especially in the big cuts this saw is made for. Either that, or go back...

    Stihl 064...What's it worth

Drop start is the only way I can get my 064 running. Did the same with the 088 and 056 mag 2. I'm not very strong, never have been. I set the brake, set the choke, pull handle in my left hand, throw the saw down with my right and pull up with the left for all I'm worth, and it works. I love the...

044 Can I repair this tank crack with epoxy?

I wonder if one of those heat welders for plastic might reconfigure the cracks and cause them to no longer be weak spots. As this is a structural piece, as The Stig points out, it seems that use of the saw will stress those cracks and cause eventual widening and failure at that place. I believe...

    Husky 372 still being sold?

Howdy. I must have been influenced by the antistihl, this being the end times and all . I see TreeStuff selling 372s on their site. I thought that saw was no longer being produced. Is it now less of a screamer than it used to be?

    Substitute for bar oil?

90 w gear oil will dissolve the oil line, or at least it did on my Echo in 1984. They said replacing it meant splitting the case… I would not use any substitute except non detergent motor oil.

Stihl Bar Oil- Is it really worth the price?

I got some at United Ag and Turf, just east of Concord, seemed it was kind of high there. This was 2020, though. Supply chain woes hit I-93 pretty hard, it seems.

New climber falls out of tree

I use a second line because I can, as this is a hobby for me, working on my own little bit of forest, The trees are all 80 feet, because they are so close together. Some thinning out is in order, but I rope into two adjacent trees and not the one I'm removing, if I can. That triangulation...
