Anyone Know What Saw This Is?

Did anyone see the bird in the picture. Like a bouble breasted fanny warbler. LOL Saw is a 102 Dolmar

    55 Rancher or MS290?

Actually the 55 Rancher is the original saw. They came out with the 55 later but have now dropped it. The 55 had a closed ported cylinder, a compression release, and .325 pitch chain. The specs. are the same on both saws, never quite figured out why they would do it like that. It's like the 55...

    partner 5000

When the saws came out in the early 80's and Husky came out with the 50 they must be vitually the same saw. You can take the cylinder and piston off the P5000 and put it right on the Husky 50. But look out that thing will really scream. It's one lean mean wood cutting machine. For some reason...

Yep: IPL means Illistrated Parts List, and yes it has all the part no.s as well. I'll see what I can do about sending a copy to you.

    Homelite XL-102 Auto

Good strong running and light for it's day. Uses same piston as the SXL. Same size engine as the SXL but lighter. I have IPL on the saw but not owners manual. Later Butch

    Sharpening Question

The 2250 Poulan runs 3/8 extended pitch chain and will need the Oregon 37534 file guide. When you say combi file gauge who made it? Later Butch

    Stihl 290 vs 55 Rancher

The 55 Husky is by far the better built saw, but the Stihl will probably out cut it since it is a bigger saw. Later Butch

oiler plunger is green and choke rod is blue.

    McCulloch 610

Mac has no used the .354 chain in years and never used it on the 610 saw. They may have used it on the 6-10 saw that was built in the 60's but not the newer 610 saw built in the 80's and 90's. If you break the air box on it I have one I'll sell you. My oppinion of the saw: It's a too saw; too...

    Husky 385XP ?

The cutters and tie straps are the same on the .050, 72 series chain and the .058, 73 series chain. The only difference is, they start with .058 drive links on both chains and coin them down to .050 on the 72 chain. Never did figure out why they wanted to make a .050 chain anyway. One more step...

    Top Handle Saws

The CS-3400 Echo is by far the best of the top handles as far as reliability is concerned. The only problem I have seen is they will get a occasional wood chip in the reed valve. As for power and speed the 335XPT tops the list. treeclimber what kind of problems have you had with the 335...

    ECHO CS-300 vs CS-3000

It's just a marketing thing. Echo is changing all the model no.s on their equipment from four no.s to three. They are also droping some model out of the line. Like the SRM-2400 and replacing it with the SRM-230. Go to your local dealer and buy the saw. It will be serviced and ready to go. At HD...

    Starter Rope

Man you guys make it sound hard. These things are a piece of cake. Take the pulley out of the cranker assy. install the new rope in the pulley and wind it round the pulley. If you use a left handed knot it won't untie it's self. If you are using bulk rope that comes on a roll leave enough...

    Need help deciding which saw

NelsonFrye: I gotta keep the Stihl guys here stirred up. I know they make a quality product, that is some of them. I just shake my head in wonderment every time a 009 or any in that series is mentioned. I saw mention of one that was built in 1981 somewhere. I was trying to remember when they...

Lawnboy is right the denatured alcohol will do the job. Just pour it in the tank and let if set and pour you troubles out. No scraping or brushing. Later Butch

Battle of the Top-Handles /climbing saws

The CS-3400 Echo won't hold a light to the Husky 335XPT in the cut, but day in and day out it has no superior. They are like the energizer bunny they just keep going and going. We have arborist that beat them to death and they never die. About the only thing that happens to them is they break...
