Is Stihl Ultra HP Oil no good?

The HP Ultra is good for the 4 Mix engines because it doesn't leave as as much deposit on the valve stems and seats. That's it. Two cycle stuff use whatever you like. Plenty of good stuff out there that nobody will ever see the difference in.

    Cannot start MS260

You should be able to dab some muratic acid on the lines and see if you get a fizz. Cameras really high light insignificant scratches depending on the light .

Stihl MS200 - cause and effect - what caused this?

They are often full, curiously enough.

    Stihl TS 500i, no spark

Yes, it was in that groove that routes it around the flywheel.

    Stihl TS 500i, no spark

We had one of those a few months ago and it was a hardly visible piece of insulation grounding the control cable to the magnesium. New wiring harness cured it. Leak will have nothing to do with spark, unless there is some voodoo that I don't understand going on.

    Burn up ms261c value?

I don't think you went through the plating at all. Certainly haven't made it oval. Put a piston in it and run it.

    Nylon rope strands in crankcase

Usually , if you just reverse direction you can get the rope back out. If you did that and just have some odds and ends of rope fiber in there leave it alone. It'll spit it out.

    Burn up ms261c value?

Getting back to the original question. You can likely make a good saw out of it. But, if you are honest and tell a buyer that it is a rebuilt burnt up saw you will be hard pressed to make it worth your trouble as far as resell.

    Burn up ms261c value?

Lot of arguments about getting the aluminum out. I use Muratic acid and a Q tip until I get tired of that. Then I use a Dremel Tool and an 80 grit flapper or whatever you call it sandpaper head and get whatever else I can see out. Then I use a ball hone with WD-40 on it for maybe 3 seconds one...

    Burn up ms261c value?

Well, it is scoring. But, it is aluminum. The plating on the cylinder is nikasil. The aluminum is much softer and comes off without damaging the plating, usually. So, if you can get that off without screwing up the plating , put a new piston in and you have a like new saw. As far as the top end...

    Burn up ms261c value?

I cleaned the aluminum transfer out of the cylinder and put a Meteor piston in it. Runs good. About the only saw I use.

    Burn up ms261c value?

First question would be, what caused it ? If straight gassed, pretty straight forward. Other problems, who knows. I could likely get it back running for $50 and my time if just straight gassed. I have one and that was the case. It's really not worth much of anything more than the bar and...

MS 361 dies out after creeping on the throttle a bit… need some help with tuning

Just re reading this thread. Those MS200T carbs are a different animal. At one time we had a little replacement plunger for those acc pumps for about $10. Pain to change. Not sure if we have any now or not. Everything 201's coming in now. Most carbs up until all this latest crap, not much to them.

    6 spline vs 7 spline

So, you are thinking the 7 pin is no larger in diameter than the 6 ? Doesn't have to be I suppose if one is .404 and the other .375.

    Techniques For Cutting Hung Leaners?

I have a walnut tree like that over my hiking trail except at about a 45 . Still alive. Would sort of like the lumber. But, I think I will just leave it alone.

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

Buy a kit, or two .Take the adjustment screws out and spray some carb cleaner in the hole and see if it comes out in the barrel. Particularly the little hole or holes on the engine side of the butterfly when sprayed in the idle hole. If that is good, put a kit in it. Stuff in the same way it...

    6 spline vs 7 spline

Think of it like gears on a bicycle. 6 spline would give you slower chain speed and more torque. I have never seen one either. More often they went to 8 spline to get the chain speed up for a slower turning engine than we have today.

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

    I guess that answers that.

    Replace or rebuild 026 carb?

I'm old and my memory sucks. But, I think some of those were compensating and some not. A few had a single screw adjustment, and the other part of the carb housing blocked off. Which is just a fitment issue to be aware of.
