Nik's Poulan Thread

Here is my reference. It could be wrong. Also found this, which supports 358 as Poulan and 636 for Echo. Hmmm Craftsman OEM List VintageMachinery_org.htm

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Only reason I mentioned Echo was that the sticker with starting instructions had a number starting with 358, which is Craftsman-speak for Echo products. I'm only dinkin with this saw for my son because he did give the the B and C pictured on the S25da. Cheap is good. New, for this saw, probably...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Gulp, Craftsman ID Help Pulled the bar off of this saw several weeks ago and paid no further attention to it (for obvious reasons) It did not have the recoil/side cover and thus no ID anywhere that I can see. Only reason I'm tinkering is that it shows good spark when spun by my cordless drill...

How do get the clutch off a stihl 024

Another option would have been taking the flywheel off first. Then replace both clutch and flywheel-side seals.

MS170. Rebuild a waste of time?

I found out about 3 years ago that it was cheaper to buy the new carb than buy a rebuild kit. Having said that, I went back with original sealed carb and now wish I'd went with the WT 215.

i kinda want a mod saw. I got this craftsman for free would it be worth while?

Don't Leave Us Hangin' Did you decide on a new p & c or just rings? Best way to experiment is on a saw that you don't really depend on or need. Good luck w/reassembly.

    Stihl 024av won't idle

Great way of putting this task. I'm now motivated to tackle my 024 which has sat for almost 3 years because I won't pay shop rates to get it fixed . My plan is to take the saw down to the seals, then let my shop mechanic pull the seals and replace. I really don't need a seal puller as I don't...

    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Poulan S25DA For Christmas, I'd like an IPL for Poulan S25DA which covers the Tillotson HU-10A series carb. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

    Pioneer chainsaws

Great feedback. This is why I like to come to AS. Given that Pioneer saws are rare in this part of Indiana, I doubt that I find a good donor saw with the right parts. We'll just have to maintain(keep cleen) the recoil mechanizm and make this saw last him for a while. Thanks to all for the quick...

    Pioneer chainsaws

Farm Saw Starter- Swap with a P-41? My son just bought a Farm Saw in very good condition for $25! New fuel line and filter and he has it running smooth. He did have an issue with the pull start/recoil, which he fixed. I did a search for him on this forum and it seams the Farm Saw starter...

    McCulloch 7-10 Autos

My 7-10A is a 1970 vintage. It has no chain brake either. The one pictured on Acres web site shows one. Agree it seems small for a 70cc saw. I run a 20" Mac hard-nose bar and it pulls it well.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Another Hoosier 7-10A ModifiedMark, good find, and local too. I have a "normal" SDC if you want to simplify that carb. PM me if interested. Free gratas! Here is mine w/ 20" hard nose bar. Feals lighter than my 028S but I use the S due to having a chain break. Just my personal preference...

    homelite 150 ?s

150 Spark Issue My sons 150 spark issue turned out to be the condensor. Swapped one from a another 150 and had good spark. If you are only replacing the carb diaphragms, there's no need to remove it. It will turn enough while still hooked to the linkages to get to the diaphragms. Very nice...

    Homelite Chainsaws

No doubt! There was some miscommunication between Tom and I. I told him we'd use a circular saw blade for material. The plan was to trace out the spike from another saw and copy it. He decided to cut the saw blade like it was. He just told it took 6 bits to drill 2 holes. It does work however...

    Homelite Chainsaws

OK, here ya go. Keep in mind, not a restoration but mearly a resurection. Check out the bumper spike! The carcass in the background is a blue 150. It had been stored near ice melt and had serious corrosion issues to the outer case. It donated the condensor Tom needed to get the red one going...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Tom (my son) got his 150 running, thanks in part to some good advice. Turned out the condensor was the culprit. Fooled him alittle, though. He had good spark prior to putting the motor back in the case. Then, no spark. The kill switch and the coil (plug) wire shorted each other and killed the...

    Poulan XXV (25)

Ozzie2's saw Here is the "muffler" on my saw. I thought it might be the internals of a spark arrestor but the IPL does not show it as such. This saw will wake the dead!168462
