    seasoning cast iron

No soap, it removes the varnish that builds up from the polymerized oil. Coolest trick I've found for scrubbing stuck on stuff, crumple some aluminium foil...it scrubs well, but is softet than the coating.

Any difference between USA and German Stihls?

All the 026's I have seen, apart from this one were German.

Any difference between USA and German Stihls?

OK, kinda like our "Canadian made" Hondas and Toyotas.

Any difference between USA and German Stihls?

I just got a really nice 026, and just now noticed it was made in the USA. All of the other Stihls I've seen up here are made in Germany. Any difference?

After playing with it for a while, I'm kinda leaning toward leaving it stock...I will open up the muff though.

I never got a chance to run the 262, do I really need a 60cc saw? I know the 361 cures cancer, but I don't have cancer ( not badly, anyway). If it's too big for a 50cc saw, I use the 460. Am I missing something?

The 026 looks like it just came out of the box. I've now got a parts to make a PP 295, an 024 super, a husky 55, an 026, and an MS460.

I just got a Husky 262xp as a replacement for a poulan pro 295....I was feeling a little bad about that, as the husky was way more saw than the PP. I loaned the PP to my BIL's father, who straight gassed it, and got me the Husky as a replacement. I got a chance to see it today, its not bad, the...

    441 or 460?

I am going to have to find a way to try a 441, 'cause if it's better than a 460, it must be incredible. I'm still at the point where I think my 460 is "magic"

Boy, that 7-29 is really from the days when men were men, and sheep were only safe in trees!

About the only reason to have a modern poulan is as a loaner. Dnon't ya just love happy endings?

    Karma isn't allways

I lent my BIL's dad my poulan pro 295 to take down some storm killed trees on his property.....he forgot the mix....RIP loaner saw. To make things right, he sends back an identical saw that his neigbour owns that doesn't run, as well as a second saw that he got from the local stihl dealer...

Husqvarna 55 Rancher Need new B/C

Willsaw4beer is right, this saw is best with a 16" bar, but the NK 20" works fine as well...except when felling, it tends to bind up easy. If you are just bucking, or falling smaller trees, the NK bar is fine. If you change to .325 make sure you use a 7 pin rim sprocket, If you go to a 16", 7 or...

Husqvarna 55 Rancher Need new B/C

I'm running an Arborpro 20" narrow kerf .325 from Baileys'. It pulls it much better than a regular bar, but you can run either, it will just bog down more with the standard 20". They are cheap too!

Dumb question about the modded saws?

I would say, all in all, anything done to undo the things they do to saws to make them cleaner or quieter will improve its life span. If you make them more fun than that, it will likely take some life span out...but who wants to live forever!:greenchainsaw:

    Break Free CLP on carbon

The baffle is only held in with 4 spot welded tabs...I just clamped on vicee grips and worked it back and forth, came right out. I just hogged out the larger port some so it felt like I'd done something.
