Jotul F 602 catalytic converter question

How 'bout that. I might take out that baffle and attempt to reshape it then. Thank you, Sunfish.

Jotul F 602 catalytic converter question

Hi all, I recently bought a 2 year old Jotul 602 CB. This is my first stove with a catalytic converter. The converter looks weird to me, sort of warped. Is this what it's supposed to look like? Is it installed wrong? Also, there's lots of ash above it, like when I look down in from the...

Has anyone replaced the probe on a OWB Honeywell aquastat?

Does anyone happen to know the Honeywell part number for the aquastat?

Has anyone replaced the probe on a OWB Honeywell aquastat?

The aquastat on my Heatmor 100CSS is dead. Removed it and the probe is extremely tarnished. I'll bet if I replaced the probe, it would be fine. Is this possible? $100 for the entire unit vs. replace the damaged probe... First chilly night of the season, happy fall!

What do you know about Stihl FS-90AV weed wackers?

I can't find any info to speak of on the FS90 AV. Got a lead on a used one in good shape, but no idea what they're worth. Any experience or thoughts? Thanks!

How often should I clean this chimney?

Happy autumn! Last year I had my chimney lined with a stainless, corrugated liner. The only thing that the chimney services is a small potbelly stove that we use for supplemental heating. Last year I burned maybe 40 fires in it, consisting mostly of black locust and oak. Hot fires. I'm...

Stainless steel thimble out of round

I'm wondering about where the stove pipe attaches to the top of the pot belly stove. On the stove side, it's oval. The pipe is round. Can I just form the round pipe around the flange on the stove, or should it go inside the flange? Does this need to be air tight for carbon monoxide or...

Stainless steel thimble out of round

Trophyhunter, a million thanks. I'll be sure to post back with the results, or any questions I have along the way.

Stainless steel thimble out of round

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I've never installed a wood stove indoors before, so please bear with me. So you're saying that I should insert the male end of pipe into the thimble and crimp the other end (or use a male coupling), seal with silicone, and chip out some mortar in...

Stainless steel thimble out of round

Several years ago I had my chimney relined. It's an old brick chimney in rough shape, so we had a Ventinox lining system installed. Basically it's metal pipe with a hardened insulating cement-like material that surrounds it and strengthens the chimney. We had this work done years ago during...

Pot belly stove - need a flue damper?

Love the handle, dan. Tell me what you have in mind. I already have the floor heat. Like I said, not the most efficient set up for an old wood floor house, but generally does okay. Don't tell me forced air, I don't wanna hear it. The other thought I did have though, was to pump some of that...

Pot belly stove - need a flue damper?

The owb powers our hydronic floor heat system. It's an old house with thick wood floors. Not the most efficient heat for the situation, but it does just fine most of the time. On extended cold spells (especially gray-sky ones), the house can still be a bit chilly, so the pot belly...

Pot belly stove - need a flue damper?

Thanks for the info. No, she doesn't hold much wood at all, but I can get a good bed of coals going and I think it would be enough to take the edge off in the house on those extra cold days. Small house...800sf, open floor. Ceilings and walls and floors insulated. Plus, it's free :)

Pot belly stove - need a flue damper?

Hi all, I have a small, old pot belly stove that would like to install in my living room. This is definitely not an air tight stove! It has the usual airflow control that a pot belly would have (sliding vent at the bottom, rotating wheel on the door). It uses 6" stove pipe, which I have...

    Wood stove identification please :)

Cool. Yeah, I'm hoping to score this one for about that price. As I mentioned, it's supplemental for those extra chilly days, or for when we want a nice cozy fire to gaze at in the living room :) Thanks for the info!

    Wood stove identification please :)

I think you're right, mellow. Is this a decent stove? My house has a pretty open floor plan and is only 800 sf.

    Wood stove identification please :)

Thanks, I think that's a good guess! I find it odd that there's no brand/model markings that the owner can find on the stove.
