    Snowed in?

haha two years ago we had a bad blizzard in the beginning of november. Two days prior I had to use a bunch of garden hose to make some cement. I laid the hoses out on a slope in the yard so they would drain and then i was going to put them up for the winter. Well i got busy and the hoses got...

Just bought a NEW Jotul Combifire #1

well, Im getting longer burn times, but with significantly less wood. This is leading to less BTU output, i think. Stove does fine for the most part, but its below 0 now and it will heat the house fine if i keep the door cracked and continually add wood.

How do you "drive" your stove?

Im getting a pile of coals. This stove is a late 70s airtight. If i dont solve this problem, Im probably gonna have to switch stoves, its not even cold out and im having some problems.:censored:

How do you "drive" your stove?

well, i switched stoves to an airtight with a damper, my old stove went through way too much wood, and had short burn times, this stove my problem is im not getting a "complete" burn. Sorry, i kinda switched horses midstream there.

How do you "drive" your stove?

thanks for the post. what ive been doing is closing down the exhaust(slightly) but leaving the intake wide open. Im guessing doing that is why I am getting incomplete burns. The coals are just piling up on themselves and smothering themselves. I started closing the exhaust thinking that...

How do you "drive" your stove?

hmm so im having a little problem here. I might not be getting enough draft, but im not sure. Ive been burning pretty hard today and have a firebox full of glowing coals, I keep throwing wood in to keep the temp up, but its just not happening. Am i 'driving' the stove wrong, or do i just...
