    What Chainsaw to buy?

Some of the Poulan Pro saws are pretty good saws for the money, but dont be fooled by the Pro part.Pro was a brand name that Poulan merged with.A 295 PP at one time was about $200,not sure what they cost now.But the 295 with a 16" bar is actually a dang good cuttin saw for the money. Not a Stihl...

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

He beat me by about a half block, and the post I was sharpenin were pine.(Round salt treated post).Im just kinda intrigued by the 266 since its an older saw ,not much bigger than the 361.

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

nope ,no sick children, but maybe as the 361 sprouted wings it lifted itself up out of the cut, slowing it down?

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

I may not be a pro climber or a northwest logger, but I use my saws to make a living, and I use them everyday.I aint a weekend warrior by any means.I build fence for a living and cleanin out grown up fence rows with 2 foot cherry and locust trees is a daily thing.Face it folks ,the 361 lost.Im a...

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

not meanin to argue Wood Doctor, but my chain is sharp.I sharpen to make a fast cutting durable edge. But I agree with you that you can sharpen to make a faster cutting chain that dont hold its edge very well.He beat me by so much that had we both had brand new chains that were untouched by a...

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

I might look into havin my saw "Snellerized".If i done it myself it would be "Snailerized",or possibly "Smellerized".Brad,do you just port the muffler and exhaust port?I knew the 266 had the cc advantage, but I figured an almost new 361 would tear it a new one, especially with a shorter bar.

I watched in horror as the 361 fell from grace

Today I was buildin fence ,had the 361 sharpenin some fence post. Some guys were in the land owners yard cuttin down a big sugar maple. After they got it down I walked over to see what they were usin.Their foreman had a 266 Husqvarna. After a few jokes about the Stihl Husky feud,I offered to put...

    Battery powered chainsaws

Ive got a little Remington cordless saw for fence building, its light and easy to handle.I only use it for cuttin boards.I can cut about 50 1x6 s on a charge if its warm outside. Its actually decently fast for a saw its size.

    Snakes: Be careful out there!

Some folks say that "dog days" are in August and that snakes are blind during this time.I have noticed that snakes really are the most aggresive in late July and August.I was fishing a couple years ago, just walkin along the river bank.I had my tackle box in my right hand.I walked by an ol elm...

Silk like web on weeping cherry

tent caterpillars, some call gypsy moths around here.A pretty big problem around here, and they will absolutely defoliate the whole tree.I only see em in wild cherry here in WV

    $&*((^ Tree Huggers!!!!

What gets me the most about tree huggers ,anti-fur,anti-eat meat, ozone idiots and all the other liberal idiots is that while they worship trees and animals, they could care less for human life. Not only could spikin a tree get a faller or a miller hurt or killed,it also does damage the tree.They...

For those of you that care...

probably more timber been cut with an 044/440 than any other brands saw combined.I aint seen the 441 yet,but im sure its probably just as good, and pricier to of course.By the way, nice to another WVian on here, what part ya from?

I guess the spark arrestor really does work

thanks for all the replies.Ive been cuttin wood since I was about 13 and have never caught wood on fire.I guess the 361 has yet another purpose. For the record,I did notice a bit more power gain in bigger wood with no screen and retaining bolt, and this winter when Im cutting wood I may remove it...

Weight and vibration levels of MS 280, 260, and Dolmar 5100?

the 280 is a good saw,but power to weight it dont compare to a 260 or 361.Ive never ran any Dolmar saw.But for the money, the 280 is hard to beat.About the same speed as a 290 or 310,but alot less weight and alot better AV and balance.Cheaper than the 260.Id recommend a 16" on a 280,18" max.

I guess the spark arrestor really does work

about a week ago the bolt that holds the spark arrestor screen on my 361 fell out so I just pulled the screen out and pitched it.Yesterday I was cuttin up some dead white oak that was about 24 inches across. The sap wood and the little bit of bark left on the tree was really dry,and the muffler...

Survey of how your sales are this year...

Reach,my experience tells me that I along with lots of other good folks on here actually have a sense of humor, and your leaving me negative rep for every post I make just tells me you have the personality of a boar hog.Im not a professional tree trimmer, and there are lots of folks here that have...

    sasafras trees

sassafras smells really good, and splits the best kindling you ever seen, because its straight grained .The bark and wood both resemble locust, although the btus and burn time dont compare with locust.I have burned alot of it and I would compare the heat to hard maple, and the burn time to soft...

never would i thought this would happen a beaver is stealing my firewood!!!

Beavers and other animals have been causing lots of troubles lately.I have a cousin who is well known for his trapping skills. He got a letter from Washington D.C about 2 months ago saying they needed his assistance. It seems there was both a beaver and a coon trying to get into the White...
