INDIANA GTG #2 AT MY PLACE

Looks like there were a lot of nice saws and some good wood to cut. Wish I could have made it to this one. I have my hands full at the moment cutting some trees at my uncle's place. You sure put on some nice GTGs Joe!

    Homelite Manuals (New and Improved!)

I decided to create a new thread for distributing the manuals that I have collected and scanned. I tend to get busy with work, family, and things around the house and I don't have the time to respond to the manual requests in a timely fashion. I enjoyed getting the individual requests and...

    Case Splitter - Homemade

No problem, glad to help. If you do end up making one let me know if worked out well. I don't have many "modern" saws to try this out on.

    Case Splitter - Homemade

I've actually started looking into that. Getting someone to cut out the "Arms" of the splitter. Then cutting a piece of square tube to length and prepping the c-clamp screw/collar to be ready for welding. I bet I could put a "weld it yourself" kit together for around 40 buck or so shipped.

Sure. I wondered how well it would show up. I changed all the layer colors to black so everything is clearly visible on the white background.

    Homelite Chainsaws

I don't have any Stihl branded 14mm bars but I do have 3 bars in that mount. I measured them with a caliper checking from one end to the other checking for variance. Windsor 20" - New w/ paint in bar slot 0.550in (13.97mm) 0.555in (14.10mm) - the slot had a slight taper from one end to the...

Tools you use to work on saws...

+1 on the compact 12V Drill/Driver and Impact. I love the ones that I have. They are my go-to cordless tools. They have a surprising amount of torque. I have the Bosch versions and they are my go to tools when it comes to working on saws. 12V Max Lithium Ion Impact Driver 12V Max...

    Homelite to stihl bar adapters

Those look really nice, great job! I made a few homemade stihl bar adapters a while back. I made it for the large mount McCulloch saws. When I acquired a Homelite 750 and 1050 I found that the adapter worked on those too. I suspect that yours will work for both.

    Case Splitter - Homemade

Thanks for all the comments! It did take me quite a bit of time to work everything out and get it made, but I get satisfaction from making something myself. After a few of the comments I think that the ball end on the screw will stay...

Also learned a valuable lesson. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DRAIN THE BAR OIL BEFORE SPLITTING A CASE! Completely overlooked that one!

    Case Splitter - Homemade

Here is the reason for needing the case splitter, my basketcase 371. I'm sure I will end up spending more to get this thing running than if I had just bought a running 371/372 but the point is to learn how to work on a "new" saw. She'll be getting a full workover including a BB piston/cylinder...
