    outdoor motion detect cams

Just wiped out three big trees for a guy who installs these systems, supposed to get hooked up with 4 infrared cameras and a dvr system. Supposed to send alerts and live screen shots to my ipad, should be cool. I'm sure I'll get lots of pics of my cat and some squirrels, but you never know.

    Leg scabbard for zubat

I guess the first thing I'll try is moving my chainsaw to the left side. I do find myself reaching for the hand saw more often. I may try the left leg, butt forward technique too. Thanks.

    Leg scabbard for zubat

Anyone use a leg scabbard for your hand saw? I've always hung mine off my belt, but it gets wrapped up in my saw lanyard a lot. Thinking about ordering a new scabbard for my zubat with the leg bands, to strap it to my calf. Seems like my climbing line might get wrapped in it that way though...

Seeking reviews of Quick Attach stump grinder

That's the grinder I've got for my Bobcat. I love it. Nice to have the loader, grapples, bucket and stump grinder all on the trailer at the job. You do have to get the loader to the stump, which might be an issue. It is nice to be able to grind stumps while sitting in the AC, listening to the...

More chipper stuff, Bandit 250XP disc refresh

Been thinking about a cleanout panel on my chute, just like you're saying. Leylands like to get clogged in mine worse than anything else, we keep a close eye on the discharge and keep a jameson with an old blade on it handy, especially when chipping wet pine or leyland cypress. PITA. My...

    Parking and storage/work space

We were doing some removals in a trailer park back in December, and I knocked on a door to get them to move their car. I was standing in the yard holding my throwline bag, and when she opened the door this big pit bull came flying out, jumped off the top step and took the bag right out of my...

Aerial Lift Of Conn. Boom Just Overhauled At My Location.

I've got an ALC boom, wouldn't mind hearing about what you had done to yours.

Dang squirrels in my upper boom

They chewed up the wires on my skidsteer trailer a couple years ago. I now have a no squirrel zone around my shop. I recommend a .22 rifle and a .410 shotgun.

First tree I have cut down in several weeks

I've done something similar before, run a line up to a big piece of dead wood, through a block at the base of the tree, and broke it out with the truck. Kind of fun really. Glad your job went well.

    skidsteer grapple/root rake

I've had the root grapple from Loflin since 2005, it's the attachment I use the most. Built really tough. Works really well for back dragging your work area when you're done too. Check them out. Skid Steer Loader Attachments: Root Grapple

    whadja do today?

Nice buck, Husky. I'm glad deer season is almost over too, I had a great archery season and a pretty good gun season. I've been shooting ducks the last couple weeks, or trying to. They haven't really showed up yet, not cold enough. Killed a greenwing teal and one black duck this am. We...

County worker killed by tree they were felling

That's awful. I watched the video, and it looks like there was no hinge left on the stump. Looks like they may have been trying to fell it uphill into the yard, and maybe he cut through his hinge and lost control. Didn't say if that grade-all was pushing on it, but I'd guess if they had it...

    whadja do today?

I like the winch idea. I've been thinking about rigging one up on my bandit. Can't decide if I want to plumb into the hydraulics or just wire up a electric winch. I'm thinking I could probably get more line speed out of a hydraulic winch but don't know that. Looks good.

music that gets ya pumped up... Or when your hear it makes ya wanna climb

"Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed. Makes me want to kill a Bradford pear every time I hear it.

Climber Crushed When Tree Splits Apart

Not sure, but it sounds like he was in the process of bombing the top and the pole barber chaired below the notch. That would pull him up tight to the pole by his lanyard, and if the top got hung up and didn't fall to the ground (like if he didn't get to finish his back cut) it would keep the...

    Killing Sapling Stumps?

Crossbow herbicide is labeled for stump treatment. It helps to hit them while the cuts are fresh. Good stuff. Mix of triclopyr and 2,4-d I think. I like it, it lays the smack on heavy brush.

    whadja do today?

Leaving early tomorrow am for Colorado, going elk & mule deer hunting. Taking along a cool tree id book for the Rockies too. Hope I get to lay the smack down on something with my .300 RUM.

    whadja do today?

No, I was just kinda grumbling cause I waited til saturday afternoon to hunt, and couldn't because the dryer had to get fixed. Definitely can't complain about the estimates, its good to have a lot of work. I've been doing them on Saturdays lately because most people are home, and if you can...
