i have a lopi freedom insert with a ss liner inside of a square tile liner surrounded by brick. my installer packed cer-wool insulation around the top and bottom of the ss liner. keeps the pipe warm in between. i havent had any problems.

ive got the 6048 as well. had to replace a pump cartridge is all, i think. get spares of cartridges, solenoid. if i had to do anything over i would have went with the high dollar pex. 5 years and no problems other than that.

Had a similar problem on my insert blower. took it apart, back together, same problem. ended up being the external protective cover. i found it by accident. i pushed on it, and it quit. a strategically placed screw wedged into place fixed my problem.

they could be air bound some. i thought i did mine correct once, did it again and it worked. i fill mine from my house back to the boiler with the valve into the boiler restricted some. i listen for any air bubble sounds at the boiler. i do the supply and return seperate.:)

i burn a lot of locust in my cb. i find it best to add it before the coals are all the way down. maybe mix it with some other wood as well. it is the best wood for an owb in my opinion.
