    Pellet Stove Venting ?

That's a possibility, but this basement has a poured concrete foundation and finished drywall walls and ceilings. I am trying to utilize the existing flue without punching anymore holes in the wall.

    Pellet Stove Venting ?

Can I vent a pellet stove into a pre-fab fireplace chimney ? Yeah I know pellet stoves are just space heaters but I have no other options. My girlfriend lives in a townhouse (middle of block) and has a crappy heat pump. House is always cold and electric bill is through the roof. She has a...

    Steel or Wood ?

Can I get some opinions please... I'm building a hearth wall behind my wood stove. Using cement board (HardBacker) with slate tile. Should I use steel studs or wood studs? I was planning on steel, but some posting on other sites seem to indicate that steel studs are not as strong as wood and...

    Liner Job Complete

Well folks, just completed the install on a SS flex liner. The install was a snap, I would highly recommend you have a friend or two on hand to help. The flex liner's are difficult to maneuver and the more hands to help guide it from the ground, to the roof, to the chimney will prevent any kinks...

    Which Stove

I'm prolly paranoid, but it seems the insurance company / power company / government, don't want anyone heating there place for FREE. They all come up with some BS reason to stop or limit wood burning.

    Which Stove

There is a bunch of nice stoves on the market, just depends on what you want to spend $$$$$. I recently bought a Englander 30NC at Home Depot. Waited till the end of the winter when they were putting out the summer stuff and clearing out the wood stoves. Got it for just over $700 bucks, was...

How do you heat your barn/shed/shop?

I have propane heat and a earth stove in my 40 x 25 garage. Two bays are open shop area and one bay is divided off into a wood shop. The earth stove will heat the entire shop if given enough time, but I usually just use the wood burner when I'm in the wood shop. The gas heat is quick and easy...

    Chimney Liner Question ?

I'm thinking of putting in a chimney liner. Currently have the old square 8x12 terracotta type liner with a brick chimney, it's about 12 years old. Based on the rest of the construction projects completed by the prior owner, I'm not comfortable with the chimney. What's a better liner the...

    Fiskars Super splitting axe review

I had my doubts about the Fiskars axe, bought one six months ago and will never swing a heavy maul type axe again. Just keep them feet spread apart when swinging.

    Lowe's clearance

Thanks for the heads up Stihl025, since your post about the Englander mark down I've been keeping a check on them in the tri-state area where I live. Most of the Lowes and Home Depot stores just replaced all of the wood stoves with summer stuff and didnt bother to mark anything down. Found one...
