    Shaver Grates are shot!

And the new grates for the winter. If anybody needs a replacement like I did, I can get one made.

    Shaver Grates are shot!

yeah the originals are not cast, just a mild steel. I would think the stainless would hold up better to the heat than round stock steel. Too late now, just bought 24 feet of the stainless... I'll guess we'll see. But back to my question... is anyone else's grates close to this condition.... wood...

    Shaver Grates are shot!

Do anyone else's grates look this bad? I burned all wood until last year when I switched to Anthracite Coal. It just fried these grates to pulp. Working on making a whole new grate in stainless. I'll post the finished product once its complete.

    HX sizing incorrect?

The only way I can take the air out would be to open the strainer and turn the water on. Not sure if that would fix it or not. One thing I am thinking is that the impreller on the pump is shot or worn so i am going to take it off and put a new one on since I have a few laying around.

    HX sizing incorrect?

I understand and I agree.. system is only 2 years old and my water is pretty good.... i still think its another issue

    HX sizing incorrect?

I have strainers on both sides and have taken any sediment out. I don't think they are blocked.

    HX sizing incorrect?

After chasing down some problems with lack of heat in my house, i determined my OWB pump to be too small.... after getting a bigger pump, it solved the heating issue on the OWB side. NOW my problem is the other side that runs on the 30-plate HX is not able to get up to temp. I have a 007 pump...

    Small Walbro part needed.

My Stihl dealer is small and doesn't have parts on hand AND only orders parts once a week if needed. They are not known for their speed. If you're willing to part with it, I would love to have it.

    Small Walbro part needed.

I am currently at work but I'll post one as soon as I can. I noticed this part doesn't seem to be on the Walbro diagrams.

    Small Walbro part needed.

I just bought a Solo 647 saw and found the black plastic fuel inlet piece is cracked. I can't find a place anywhere that has this part. Does anybody have an old carb to rip one off and send it to me or new ones in a bin somewhere? My saw is useless without it. And Sandy is putting a rush on...

    Solo 647 Opinions

Well I wish I would have seen this post before Saturday. I just picked up a 647 for $50. Compression is great, figured I couldn't lose for that price. I guess we'll see.

    What Aquastat do I need?

Can you tell me what the difference is between the units with an attached probe and the ones that do not have a probe and are just strapped onto the pipe? How can the probe sense water temp versus the ambient around it?

    What Aquastat do I need?

I am looking for a part number for the type of aquastat I need for my setup. I have one OWB line to my house and the other to my garage. I want to put the aquastat on the garage line in order to shut off the pump and keep the hot water for the house. This is mainly for the early morning when the...

    And yet another heating question/problem.

I still think it is air as I can hear water flowing when I couldn't before.

    Shaver Improvement Forum

I will add this.... I just happened to check my well with my Ranco probe inside and it is melted to the copper well. I tried pulling it out and it won't budge... but since it seems to be accurate, I am going to leave it go til Spring. Maybe yours, and others, are faulty that way.

    And yet another heating question/problem.

Anybody have any ideas how to diagnose this or hoe to check for air?

    And yet another heating question/problem.

I am starting to believe that this could be my problem.... I know how to get the air out of my oil burner lines but the W2W HX is a soldered loop with no breaks to get at... same for the HX over my A/C unit.... I don't know enough about HVAC to know what to try first.
  18. U

    And yet another heating question/problem.

Let me clarify.. I am talking about a water to water heat exchanger in order to keep the OWB system separate from the oil burner water. My hot air heat is supplied by a line coming off the oil burner to a water to air HX that lays flat across my central A/C.

    And yet another heating question/problem.

I can't find air in any part of the system... I shut everything down and let the OWB hang at 190 while the other side of the HX came up to about 180. It didn't seem to want to go any higher and the temp dropped to 64 in my house so I turned the system back on and it is s-l-o-w-l-y coming back up...

    And yet another heating question/problem.

I have wye strainers at both sides of the HX.. if I unscrew the cap off, it should bleed the air out if there is any there... going to try that now.
