you might try fiberglass resin if you just need to seal it up. I did this with a fuel tank on an old saw a few months ago and seems to be holding up just fine.

btw, great job not getting a Mac. There was a time it was a good piece of hardware, but now it's just a lot of flashy, over-priced parts.
I have a 455 and have had no problems whatsoever. As far as not being able to handle full-time-go, it would be a helluva marketing trick to sell pro-level saws if a homeowner saw could run like a pro-level saw.
