Change to 14" ???? I have a little Mac with a 14" bar that takes S49. I do not find that the chain is hard to find. They have them at Lowes and Menards both.

    Intro and Questions:

I am not exactly sure what you are asking. Does the saw run? Either way, for an old saw that I wanted to get "UP to SNUFF", I would consider: 1. Checking or replacing all rubber hoses. 2. replace or clean Fuel and Air filters 3. Maybe clean and put kit in the Carb. 4. Rinse/clean oil...

    Father inlaw

Do you mean "BETWEEN" sharpenings? Or between sharpens X number of times that you can sharpen them? (total life span).. I have a couple that have lasted ten years or more, (Ok, I haven't actually used them though).

    Disease or normal?

Watch those vines. You might want to get a positive ID on the Vines that you have been chopping on. You may end up with Poison Ivy from head to toe.

Is the Case Mag or aluminum?

No, I just sanded it with a woodworking sander. I assumed that it was clean. How could it not be? I sanded it down to bare metal. No primer. I am not sure that it is worth the trouble. I got it for free. I put a new Oregon bar and chain on it (85$), Carb kit made it run well (20$), Bought a...

Is the Case Mag or aluminum?

Oh yeah.... The biggest reason that I ask is that I cleaned the paint COMPLETELY off of this saw (worked my butt off) , and painted it with spray bomb. It looked great. Now all of the paint is falling off in GIANT flakes. How do I paint it? Can It be powder coated? So I figure since it...

Is the Case Mag or aluminum?

How do you tell magnesium from aluminum? It is a poulan 5200 case/handle? Can it be welded?

    how to use a chainsaw?

I use one of the HF 29.00 grinders and although everyone on this board says that they are absolutley worthless, I can tell you different. Yes, I had to straighten up the rotation, but if you get one, I can tell you how to do that simply. This machine may not sharpen as good as the experts on...

    Question about my saws????

I am not going to comment on the size (OK I will ... 16"), but I know for the poulan that places like Lowes and Menards sell an Orgeon chain/bar combo and the prices are really pretty good when you look at the price of just a chain. I think that it would take the s56 combo.

    Pulling clutch off of Craftsman/Poulan

It's off!! Thanks! I realized after I took the muffler off that it would have made sense to do that BEFORE. And see what I was doing. I was also using too big of a rope. I was using a 3/8" rope that would barely fit through the spark plug hole. After switching to about a 1/4 inch rope...

    Pulling clutch off of Craftsman/Poulan

I am just about to go crazy. The short story is that i have already ruined a perfectly good saw by cramming a rope into the Cylinder to remove the clutch and I am preparing to do it again. If I put just a little rope in the thing, the saw will still revolve 360. If I cram enough into the...
