    NCB 175 settings

So how do you control the temps with no water in the water jacket? I know a guy that did the same thing but used sand instead of pea gravel. I am going to call him this weekend to see how he controlled his burns. Chris

    TACO to Grundfos

What are the model numbers of Grundfos would be a comparable replacement for the Taco 007, 011, and 013 pumps? Most of the OWB come with Taco pumps, and it would be nice to know what pumps are comparable to the Taco's... Chris

OWB...going on vacation What to do?

I tested this when I went to North Dakota the first week of Nov. I left my pump going on my Woodmaster, and the sidearm on the hot water heater kept the water at 100 degrees with no problems. I tested this on a cold start with the Woodmaster water at 50 when turned on, and it gained 10 degrees...

    Alternate fuel

I know quite a few trappers who burn carcasses in their woodstoves. You really have to close the dampers down because the fat burs really, really hot... and it smells like a bbq :)

A little advice needed on a chainsaw!

I like the Husky 350's, which is now the 450. Great limbing saw, and has enough power to cut any smaller trees (12" or so). Also easy on the pocketbook at $370 Chris

    best way to control fan?

If you only have the fan, you can build a box to put the HX in and mount the fan to the box. Home Depot sells 'line voltage' thermostats for about $20, and a plug with 10-12' of 14/2 for less than $10.....

    Seasoned wood and the OWB

I've used about a half cord less wood this year as the same timeframe as last year. You definitly get better efficiency out of seasoned wood. I will be working on 2011-2012 in a few weeks now that deer season is about done for me. Chris

Running PEX through garage for OWB, options?

I ran my pex lines along the back wall of my garage, boxed it in, and insulated them with pipe insulation on the pex with fiberglass around it all. I have 65 ft of underground and another 40 ft along the garage wall with 5 degree loss at the hot water heater. It worked for me :givebeer:

How much does a cord of oak weigh?

My tandem with two 3500lb axles will take about 1 1/4 cords of green oak, but it doesn't like it. It has heavy duty trailer tires on it with 60lbs of air in them, and I built it solely for the purpose of hauling wood. No way would I try and put a full cord of green oak, or dry oak for that...

Went to the Dolmar dealer this weekend

I sent you a PM with my number. If you're the Nick from Plainwell, then I am one of the guys who emailed you about the 350. If you haven't bought anything yet, you are more than welcome to stop by and have a go with the Makita 6401, which is the same as the Dolmar 6400 ~ just a different color...

    Husky 371 worth $350?

Went down to the local dealer yesterday to get a part for the splitter and was drooling over the saws ( 372 and 395). Got to the used saws and he has a 371 for $350 and a 365 (I think) with a 372 piston/jug on it for $550. He says compression on the 371 was 140psi, but I would need to see it for...

How long can you hold out?

Tuesday night here. Fired the 4400 up and watched the temp gauge rise  I will burn until mid April or when the daytime temps are getting into the 70's again. I love not having to pay the gas man, but I wish these things were more efficient. 10 cords is a lot of wood :givebeer: Chris

    Fired her up today!

I am gonna try and hold out until Nov 8th when I get back from North Dakota. My friend has had his Shaver going for a couple weeks now.... Chris
