What is wrong with todays "logging, and sawmill methods?"

Here in Iowa, we hit our low point last year. Laid off once, mill shut down for awhile, reduced hours etc. Now for us, the hardwood lumber market is being good to us for the time. Log supply has been good for a long period of time. Before, we were switching species every couple days. Now we...

    Tillotson HL Carb Rebuild w/pics

I'm in the process of rebuilding the carb on my 2100. Does it make a difference in the height of the inlet seat? I've attached a photo of the two. Old and new. Thanks

I would check with a local forester. State or independent. They will have a pretty good idea for your area.

    Sawmill

Notice I said I as in me, haven't saw them. I don't recall seeing them at the Midwest Forestry Show in MO and or the Logging Congress. "I haven't seen....." That isn't to say someone else hasn't as some of you made it obvious. Instead of being an a** about it, you could have...

    Sawmill

Anchor Seal is a must not only for what brookpederson said but also to prevent stain. I have heard good things about the Norwood sawmill and a few of my friends have woodmizers. You may pay a bit more for a mizer but customer service is top notch.

That ol' Crab mill is neat to watch. It is the one under the canopy. Was built in my hometown of Independence,Iowa back in the 50's. I have one of those ol' Crabs sitting in a barn that I got from my uncle. Just need some land and a building. It was neat running the ol' thing and it...

    black walnut logs in Illinois

That depends. If you don't know a veneer log from a saw log than you could be shooting your self in the foot. With walnut, most end users don't want any sapwood. You either steam it or edge it out. If you don't know grade, than again you could be shooting yourself in the foot. A lot...
