    stihl 011 avt horsepower

Mine hasn't seen much use since I posted a few years back.... The exception being just after Irene. I upgraded to a top handle jonsered. It kinda out-performs the 011 by a little bit.

    apache stove

Hi NeilC, This was one of my first posts and I still don't know much about my stove or the company. I haven't had to swap the motor yet but I did have to rewire it as well as the rheostat. If I did need to replace it, I'd start with surplus center (Surplus Center - Hydraulics, Engines...

    Todays Milling

Those are the best spill proof cans out there...... Just be careful when you do push the button to vent the can..... if it's under pressure and there's fuel near the spout it will shoot right out. I found out the hard way.

    Russian-Olive One More Time...

That's what seems to be the prevalent Russian olive in my neck too. Most of the time its more of a bush than a tree.

how do you haul milling chains

AaronB - I use one of those rolling tool boxes too. Seems to work pretty well for my needs, though I keep the chain in zip locks or the original boxes. gr8scott72 - You've got a great idea there with those wooden boxes ..... I really like the slots you cut out for the bars and the bolts/pegs...

Freehanding or any CS milling You can't be too careful.

Thankfully it was not a costly learning experience - no major injuries or loss of property. Hopefully no one else goes through that or worse. Ive only tried something similar on one occasion and used cinder blocks on my side of the log to keep it upright. It worked perfectly - which was good...

Truck + 7200V goes all wrong

I've been to quite a few "wires down" calls at work. There's nothing quite like watching a high voltage line melt asphalt ..... Except watching a high voltage line melt dirt. Turns to a lava like substance. Very impressive to see. :jawdrop: Lou

    Used saws

I agree with all the previous posts. 2 of my saws are new (2150 & 2165). The rest acquired or purchased used. Some (3 or 4?) from ebay, several from my jonsered dealer. He has earned my trust and occasionally gets a nice trade in when jonsered offers cash for trade ins. I got 3 used from...

    Oh No - Not again!

BobL Whatya think of those euro style dodge/freight liner type vans? I've been seeing more and more in my area - even some local contractors are using them now. They even have heavy versions with dual rears, though I guess that probably wouldn't work for you - you mentioned driveway space...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Good to know you had a good experience at bish. I guess I'll try them again at some point if i have the need. I really like the atmosphere at kurtz. It's real old-school. Its The kind of place where old timers come into the back and just b.s. a while. I currently live along the river south...

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

If your serious about trying another brand I suggest jonsered. I love their saws and they are the sister saw of husqvarna. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you try a jonsered.

New Guy from NJ with a few questions

Walts is a great dealer. My family and i have been buying from him for years. I have purchased tools and toys there - stihl saws and Polaris atvs. The jonsered dealer you are referring to on rt 518 is approximately .10 miles west of rt 579. The name is kurtz outdoor power equipment. The...
