Lots of times when we drop a tree some of the bigger can be cut completely off and often times there is a nice limb that is left on the main trunk and just cut off leaving a 4-6 ft handle to roll the trunk so it can be completely cut. I had a cant hook but never took it in the woods.

Just added a loglift to 4 year old splitter. Some of the parts are old like the 48 chevy closed driveshaft rearend. Good start on the splitter build

After talking to a guy at Prince valve I opted to get a valve with power beyond port to supply the valve for my log lift. He said the valve wasn't designed for that type of setup and it would eventually fail. Go to prince valve web site and find the diagrams that are helpful for your situation.

I've seen Russian Olive around here and it seems they come in groups. What I have that is invasive is Asian Honeysuckle bushes and they are everywhere in my small patch of woods. They grow from seeds and root system. I've sprayed the leaves with a combination of herbicides with glyphosphates...

I bought a used Ranger 500 about a year ago and it's been handier than I imagined. It's an 07 and the bed is wider than my sil's 11 model. The more I use it the more I overload it with firewood. Put little pegs in the top holes of bedsides to haul more.

I added another 1/4" to the top of my beam after using it for a couple of weeks. I could see it flexing.,but now it stays straight. It's reinforced a little more on the lower half also,but I don't know if it was needed.
