PSA: Verify those property lines and watershed easements

Found this on an unrelated forum. I'll just link to his posting with pictures and maps rather than copy his post here. You don't have to be a forum member there to read it. Last Friday/Saturday a homeowner hired a crew to clearcut their backyard. What was cut was only partly cutable, mostly on...

Any vintage value to a Zeus generator? Looks to be 4 stroke. http://lansing.craigslist.org/tls/4659619877.html

What happens if you clear cut the wrong parcel?

Saw this in a financial forum, neighbor sells timber for clear-cut, loggers also clear-cut 1/3 of the forum poster's land. http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/1374253/ What would happen in your state if you did that? I can recall a time in the 1980s when a landowner claimed he bought a...

Hearth pad, or cement block for wood stove install?

Close. That looks like an Americana Classic wraparound. We used slate tile on the floor, and did 3'x4' of a more varied Z-brick on the wall behind the stove, I think the color was Inca Used. Speaking of slate, Menards has it for $1.50 a square foot...

Hearth pad, or cement block for wood stove install?

My parents used z-brick brand veneer behind the woodstove in the 1970s. Looks like it's still on the market. http://www.z-brick.com/

    OWB Insurance Rates

You bring up a good point. For those of us with hybrid heating systems, what fuel is "primary"? In your case, I'd say the propane is primary and you supplement it with wood in the coldest weather. You already have solid fuel appliances claimed on your insurance declarations anyway, right? In...

    Husky 36 worth keeping?

Now I can't find "Sweden" (or USA) anywhere on it. I'll have to check again in the daylight. Made 1995, week 29.

    Husky 36 worth keeping?

As you say, far from the worst homeowner saw around. It's light, it cuts, and mine has the easiest to operate chain brake of any saw I've ever owned. I flick the brake on and off with one finger. Mine was made in Sweden, so I don't think Poulan was involved. As old Huskies go, I'd trade it for...

    Anybody like Carlton chain anymore?

A while back I got a deal on 12" Hobby Champ sprocket nose bars and Woodland Pro 30LP chain. It was OK until I had to take a file to it. After filing, I'm astounded at how fast my little $99 Ryobi cuts.

    Dolmar 510 Possible air leak.

There was a running change to the intake boot on early PS-510, the upgrade part is some kind of a $1 ring you put in/on the boot.

EFCO Brand - Please leave me your feedback!

The biggest Cub Cadet was the 5620, 56cc, 20" bar, same chassis as 56 and 62cc John Deere. I was tempted to get a $299 5620 from Amazon, swap over the P&C from a JD CS62, and have the only 62cc Cub Cadet in existence.

Echo Power Fuel - Premixed Fuel

Lots of condensation in those big underground tanks. If the tank temperature is below the dew point of the air, any air that gets in the tank gives off water.

Best little pro saw to have ported?

If it says Rover on it, it was designed to leak vital fluids. It's a form of under body rustproofing. As Peter Egan said after he shipped his MGB across the country and it arrived on the upper deck of a car hauler, above a car that looked like it had been tarred and feathered, "I can't...

    Slamm

About 25 years ago they started painting the shafts and heads blue instead of polishing them. Ugh. At least the leather handled ones are still polished, but they're getting harder to find.
