    What are these Grubs???

No idea, I find them all the time in wood that is basically dirt in the center. Our chickens wouldn't even eat em. I just let the girls squash em.

    7900 choke?

I personally would order up a replacement. I have a 7900 and don't see how the choke is prone to breaking. Being that it is in the back of the saw, how did it break?

    Oak wilt milling concerns

It is in the root system and the entire tree. I am not an arborist, I researched this as I wanted to cut a few down due to wilt. I will try to find a link for you. Oak wilt is a fungus, that is where grafted root systems cause problems. The main culprit for wide spread are beetles that climb...

    7900 Leaking

Hey, thanks puter guy. I guess I will be off to get an o-ring. I hate when you have problems that show no obvious defects.

100 octane gas will "burn up" saw???

Check your local motorsports shop. They usually sell VP race gas, I think it is 104 octane, comes in 5 gal steel jugs. It smells good to, the exhaust that is.:greenchainsaw:

100 octane gas will "burn up" saw???

I am not a mechanic or anything but I would have to argue Av gas making them slower. Why would they run high octane fuel in race bikes (motocross), atleast they did before the 4 stroke era. If they can design $100,000 race bikes, I doubt they are lacking the knowlege about proper fuel.

    7900 Leaking

I have a 7900 that is about a month old. Once in a while it leaks gas. It looks like it comes from the cap. The o-ring has no knicks, I have tried snugging it and really tightening it. It will only do this once in a while. Does anyone else have this problem. I know this is a simple...

The saw will actually run cooler and cleaner on AV gas.

I know, its like beating a dead horse

Cutting firewood is out of necessity, then becomes a hobby, then becomes a rewarding passion. Get the 361 and start saving for your next saw.......and there will be one. I went from a cheap poulan to a 361 to a 7900 and looking to get a ms660. The 361 will do everything you need as a firewood...

to stack or not to stack?

I cannot say that I don't mean to hi jack the thread because by saying that I am recognizing that I am doing it. But where in the world can a guy find 500 full cords of wood per year. I have a hard time finding 4 just to keep the house warm.

Is this a fair price for a 361?

That is pretty good. The cheapest I found was $579. It is worth it to spend the extra 50 bucks at a good dealer versus the cheapest dealer with crappy service.

    I dare....no...double dare someone to.....

My dad has had a wild thing for 6-7 years with a good bit of use. I bought one 3 years ago and supplied wood every year with it and it still runs great. I have since bought a 361 and a ps7900, so it does not see much use anymore. I suppose I could wreck one in a week if I tried. Just use the...

When to use a bore cut

Treepointer, I am not being a troll but what is the danger in your picture? I had a tree do this but I heard the cracking and popping and stepped back. Even then it happened pretty slow. If the hinge does not break, what is the danger? If you can't tell, I am fairly green. I only cut wood...

When to use a bore cut

Thanks So from what I gather, the bore cut basically allows you to choose (in a sense) when the tree will fall. If the tree is leaning hard you may only cut in a few inches and it will start to go with a regular notch and back cut, resulting in the uncontrolled barber chair deal. When the...
