    Didier splitters

Just came across this thread, as I was splitting/stacking wood last night and thinking about my awesome Didier splitter. I bought this splitter at an estate sale in 1997 for $175. I knew the original owner (he used to let me rabbit hunt on his farm) and it was not used much and always kept in...

    Trouble cranking a husky 55

Nice problem to have ... a lot of compression! Maybe a compression release valve would work for you. I've never had a problem holding the handle down with my toe/foot sticking part way through it. But, I've also been able to put my knee on the handle - when I've had to hold the throttle wide...

    Husqvarna 50 Oil Leak

Vent tube is/was all clear and it is still way over-oiling. Any other suggestions?

    Husqvarna 50 Oil Leak

My saw seems to have developed a serious oil leak. I noticed an excessive amount of oil flowing out onto the bar and chain while cutting and then when storing, it just continues to leak out until all of the bar oil is gone. Any ideas as what may be causing this? Thanks.

    Husqvarna 51 differences?

I bought a Husky 51 new back in 1991 and it came outfitted with a Zama EL-7 carburetor. I picked up another Husky 51 last summer and it has a Walbro WT-170 carburetor on it. The latest 51 is a bit newer model, as it has the 'air injection' parts in it. Why were different carburetor's used on...

    Husqvarna 50

I was able to bolt a new 46mm piston/cylinder onto my Husky 50 with no issues. However, the serial number shows it was made in week 21 of 1989.

    Walbro vs. Zama

Converting my Husky 50 (outfitted with the WA-82A carburetor - which has given me fits) to the carburetor/choke set-up of a 51/55. I have the throttle and choke levers for the 51/55 and the air filter and mount assembly. I will probably just mod the 50's cover to accommodate the choke lever...

    Husky 50 / Walbro ??'s

Thanks for the very useful info, guys. I think that may be where my problem lies. That's the frustrating part, is that I had the saw running great with the 51 carb and assembly mounted on it. But, I have since put all of that hardware back on my excellent running 51. I'd have to change or...

    Husky 50 / Walbro ??'s

OK, I received my W & Z tools yesterday. I set the tab using the W tool and guess what - it's right where I had it set ... level with the carb body 'floor'. I didn't realize that 0.060" below carb body depth was measured from the outer rim of the carb body. I thought it was measured from the...

    Husqvarna Model 51 chainsaw?

Great, great saws! I bought my 51 new back in 1991 and was my only saw for 20 years. Still running it today and the only thing I ever had to replace on it was the coil. I burn on average ~ 6 cords per year - heating my home and 24X40 shop. I like it so well, I picked up another 51 last...

    Lack of hushy dealers?

My local Husky dealer still has the sign out, but there isn't a Husky product in the shop - all Echo. He says you can't beat the 5 year warranty. So far, I still have all Husky equipment and don't plan to change that ... I'll find another dealer.

    Husky 50 / Walbro ??'s

Thanks, Pioneerguy ... I'm pretty sure I have thoroughly cleaned the carb twice, but I will take it apart again - just to triple-check under the needle again. I will also bend that tab to achieve .080" below the body height. Thanks for all the information - much appreciated. I have 3 of these...

    Husky 50 / Walbro ??'s

OK, thanks for the information. I made sure the diaphragm and gaskets are in the correct order, and they were. I may not be sure how to get the tab .080" below the deck height. I pushed the tab clear down with a small philips head screwdriver and tightened up the screw on the rod. The tab...

    Husky 50 / Walbro ??'s

I picked up an old Husky 50 for $20 that was straight-gassed. Piston was melted and cylinder badly scored. I installed a new big-bore kit and couldn't get it to run. Discovered that the crankcase was filling with fuel - I took the carb all apart, cleaned it all out and put it back together...
