    Many years ago thread

    Many years ago I laughed at a thread started by someone (perhaps 2008?) saying that they had a lot of surface roots from a tree and someone told them to hack away the "bark" of the roots to stunt their growth and "promote" roots down below. A couple folks admonished, but what stood out was the...

    Welcome! If you want some fabulous info and forums on these, visit thesmokering.com and go into the forums tab. There is a dedicated forum on cookers, and many knowledeable and helpful folks there. They still teach shop in high school? I thought they phased out disemination of all important...

    Anyone made a meat smoker on here?

    Here's a link to my homemade smoker out of a barrel. Most people think it's store bought when they see it. http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32207&highlight=

    New Wood Storage Area (PHOTOS)

    That looks so nice it's begging for a rigid roof instead of a tarp.

    One ticked off person!

    That totally bites, even moreso because it looked well laid out and built solid by you yourself. I know it's too late, but there were some good suggestions here. Perhaps for your next one? http://arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=73202

    Moving=store or sell?

    Whole family is city-dwelling, and everything is already gone anyway. And in reality, everything I sold can be re-purchased later as needed, and more wisely purchased (with past experiences) to better suit those new needs as they'll likely be different anyway. (Although I do miss my scrap metal...

    Moving=store or sell?

    aw man! I didn't even think about you at that time, sorry! I held onto it for a long time. The only use it got was to take the tandem bicycle to Santa Cruz, at a cost of $20 in gas, and otherwise it was a pain to keep moving it every three days like clockwork to keep the parking nazis off it...

    Moving=store or sell?

    Well, it's been 5 months now since moving out of the hills and into the city. I ended up selling most things, but gave away a lot too. A guy came to get my tree-climbing gear for a cheap $80, asked if I was selling my HF splitter. "Darn right i am!" Next day he comes with $1000. Was I ever glad...

    Craigslist laughs

    HEY!!! I've always wanted to know how to do a "print screen" sort of function like you did with this ad. I often want to save or email a webpage before it changes or gets deleted. How'd you do it?

    Need Firewood

    Okay ladies, you asked for it, so here's a pic of yours truly....and now that my face is on the internet it'll come back to haunt me when I least expect it!

    Craigslist laughs

    Wow...look whose nerves got struck! Is there truly only one way that the world works? Your way? Are so so angry because you posted one of those free wood for free removal ads and they damaged something? What gives? I have perpetuated the myth that nobody responds to free wood for free...

    Maybe because he got it on craigslist he thought this was the place to post?

    splitter push plate

    You mean you put a threaded fitting on the top of the tank? Could you just weld it shut and weld a new one below the full-fluid mark?

    whatchathink, splitter valve

    My valve return home by itself just fine, but bogged the motor a bit before kicked into neutral. I adjusted it to relieve unecessary force, went right to the border of kick-off...now occassionally i'll have to hold the lever before it "sticks" into retract, need to increase it a tad. Maybe yours...

    Moving=store or sell?

    I think that is a wonderful eye-opening statement that really puts it into perspective.

    Moving=store or sell?

    Sometimes I wished I had bought my grandfather's old farm in upstate NY (know any Hunsickers?) for the ridiculously low price it went for. The house was over 200 years old with boulders for foundation. Someone bought the huge dilapidated barn for the recycled lumber. But winters woulda been too...
