Thanks. I'll take a look at that site and do a search there.

What is involved with that? I was hoping more of a valve repair/ replacement. This sounds more difficult.

    tractor hydraulics problem

A friend of mine has a john deere tractor with a front end loader. We have been using it to load logs into a truck. I think we picked up a few logs that were too heavy, as the loader will no longer stay up on its own. I drifts down even without a load. I don't know much (or anything) about...

    Am I slow?

If you are working at a comfortable pace, who cares? If you don't feel a little tired by the end, speed up a little. If you feel too tired, slow down. There are a lot of variables in how fast or slow you can go. Cutting large wood with a dull chain is a good example. Having to walk too far...

Stihl 036 Wanting to Die When Pull Trigger

could be a few things. Collapsing or weak fuel line, plugged fuel filter, crap in the carb, crap in the muffler, or weak spark.

Well twice I have tried and twice I have failed!!

Filled one of those up three times yesterday by 2 PM. Tractor with forks and log lengths makes for moving a lot of wood. Truck is a lot of fun to drive, but it is a challenge (no power steering). Unloaded the truck in about five minutes (added a dump bed) - takes a couple of minutes to get...

When do you check your brake lines?

I've had some bad experience with rusted brake lines. Had a line fail on me with a car stopped dead in front of me. I was lucky and was able to stop just in time, sliding in as I did it. We have annual inspections here in PA, whcih should catch these issues, but sometimes the brake lines get...

Ladies and Gentlemen, listen up.This is a serious post and you all need to read it.

WS - glad you wussed out and went to see a doctor. FYI - not only can you get the classic bullseye rash at the bite site, you can also start to get seemingly random rashes elsewhere, typically around joints.

Ladies and Gentlemen, listen up.This is a serious post and you all need to read it.

Glad you know what is happening. I started reading your post and knew it nearly right away. wish I had known about your troubles earlier, as I know I would suggested it (not a doctor, but sometimes play one at home). You had pretty classic signs for later stages of Lyme. Not trying to be a...

    Dump kit conversion

I took a closer look at the truck last night. It does not have a straight frame. The bed is already lifted 3-4" on wood blocks to accomodate the frame. I've been looking for decent dump trucks, but most I'm finding are more $$ than I want to spend on a wood truck.

How to Cut Logs to be a Fire Showcase

That'll work. Pine pops a lot, but it shouldbe fine. I have not tried pine for mine. I've used red oak, black birch, and silver maple. I liked the birch the best as it has the best aroma. Pine will make a good smelling fire, also.

Thanks. Pics would help a lot. How much do you think it will lift?

How to Cut Logs to be a Fire Showcase

Yes -swedish candles. I make a verticle "x" in the wood that stops about 4" from the bottom, add some lighter fluid and light it up. Makes a great camp fire. Wood must be dry for this to work well, otherwise just makes a lot of steam. Best to make your candle cuts well ahead of time to make...

    Dump kit conversion

Thanks. I appreciate the offer. I would be using it too much to feel right about borrowing a truck from someone. I'm planning on dropping logs in the bed so there is less cutting on-site just to move things more quickly.

    Dump kit conversion

If you wouldn't mind, let me know where you got your cylinder. I'm not a good welder, but can get some help from people who can. Anything you can provide would be a help. Thanks.

    Dump kit conversion

I am looking at installing a dump kit on a mid-eighties super duty ford with basically a flatbed. Does anyone have any experience doing this? I am looking at the Pierce kit for 5 ton or 7.5 ton. Has anyone ever used these kits? Has anuone ever does this to a truck? I have a lot of wood to...

    EPA knew and did nothing....

I agree that we can do better at most things than the government. Law enforcement, however, is not one of those places. If there was a way to replace the federal or state versions of the EPA with a private group, it would be great, but that will never happen.

    EPA knew and did nothing....

Yes, some asbestos floats (the insulation usually floats, the tiles may not). As it becomes more friable, more of it will separate out and all of those fibers will float. Generally, if it stays in a mass and becomes saturated, it may sink. Regardless, I agree it is not the best way to get rid...

    EPA knew and did nothing....

Be my guest. I don't expect this to be a popular post (and it's a little long), as so many people think everything about the EPA is bad. I disagree and just think that many things about the EPA are bad, just not all.
