Does Anyone Own a SOLO chainsaw or Have Opinions on Them?

Shame. It was probably a good saw untill he got a hold of it. He probably doesn't know it needs premix. Straight gas and no maintenance tend to give those results.

    Blower recommendations

Blowers When considering blowers you really should look at Shindaiwa and Redmax. They make some outstanding units.

    372xp - getting weak, send help !

Last of the really good Husky saws. We'll never see them like that again. We're destined to only see saws severly regulated by EPA in the future.

    71:1 Ratio Fuel Mix

I think PEST is thinking of a company called "Optimol" which produces Opti2 oil. They make some interesting claims.

    Does Stihl=Ford and Husky=Chevy?

More like a BMW to Volvo comparison.

What Is The Biggest Saw You Would Like To Own

Obviously the Sachs Dolmar 166 was my choice. K&N filter sitting on top is cool. Heavy monster.

new member, new Solo 636 Magnum

Solo has a good rep. They did some colaboration with Dolmar on their larger saws. Their distribution is in Newport News Virginia. I have aquired parts in the past from them for my 667, no problem.

You're too fast for me Andy!

    Lifespan of a saw engine

Ahh.. good ol EPA. They probably mean that after 50 hour of use the tolerances have changed enough that it no longer meets their emission requirements ie. CARB and all that b.s. I suspect that saw will run fine much longer than that.

Not worth the cost to ship those things.

Chicago brand chain sharpeners, any good??

I have one and it works ok. It will give you fairly consistent angles which is way more than I can expect from my hand filing. I use a file in the field and true up the angles back in the garage. Just dont expect the world from a $49 grinder. You can get different wheels at Baileys. The ones...

    Sachs Dolmar questions

The 166 is a 118cc machine. The only thing (from Germany)bigger and heavyer is a stihl 090. And then there are the macs and homelites which also made their share of monsters.

    tuning question

Turning the screw in clockwise closes the conical orifice leaning out the fuel/air mixture. Counter clockwise will richen the mix.

    old craftsman 37ps??????

My father bought his back in the early 70s. That was and is a great running saw and came with a roller-nose bar standard, tillotson carb, all metal chassis, sort of a Homelite superXL copy. Plenty of vibration. They don't make em like that anymore. Get'r running and use it.

    My New (Used) 288 Husky

$375 was a steal for that saw. Good job.

    What's your favorite backpack blower?

Here's another vote for Redmax. It will move even wet leaves and rip delicate plants right out of you garden if you're not carefull. Not that I know anything about that...

    String Trimmers

Tanaka, they make the best auto-feed head in the business called "the Brain". Their trimmers are first rate. You may have to do a little searching for a dealer though.

    Evaluating the EHP 281 Worksaw

Nice fast saw! Great for stump jumping! Not that I recommend that technique or anything.

What is up with this wood???

The tree probably got used as a fence post at some point and had a little bit of wire in it. I've hit some of that on my property. I'm usually very careful when I cut the bottom 5ft. of my trees. Break out the metal detector. Eric
