    Need some hillbilly opinions.

Id rip the motor out, and use it to power a 10k generator head.

    Topped my first tree.

This particular tree dumped pollen right into the front windows, which stay open for ventilation 24 hrs a day during the spring and summer. We actually had pollen build up on the hardwood floors INSIDE the house. Not to mention, this is the only pine I have say-so about. So it went bye-bye...

Maybe you are already blind. I have safety glasses on. And a harness?? It is a damn man-basket.

    Topped my first tree.

90% of my being nervous was due to the lift. :dizzy: Im not afraid of heights, but that lift certainly tested me!! They sway and bob BAD, even when you are smooth with the controls. I rented it from work at my 50% off employee rate. Payed a whole $20 for the day. Normal is just $40...

    Topped my first tree.

I know all about power lines. Ive operated many knuckle boom trucks delivering building materials. I was well beyond the 15' mark :) Pictures make it look much closer.

    Topped my first tree.

Certainly not as big as the other pine, a few threads down.... but this one did make me a bit nervous Roughly 45ft tall, and less than 25 ft from the house in one direction, less than 20ft from the power lines in the other, and very close to two other trees I wanted to avoid molesting...

    Log splitter tonage

Similar amount of force required, but a much longer stroke (obviously). That means more volume, and much more power needed to flow and pressurize all that extra fluid.

Log splitter pics what's yours look like?

Here is mine... A rebuilt Didier unit with a 5hp OHC Honda on it. This summer it will receive a larger hydro tank :greenchainsaw:

How often do you clean your chimney

I clean mine every spring. But I clean out the wood stove and inspect the catalyst 3 times a year. Once in the spring, and 2 times during the burning season.

    burning lumber

I snag every hardwood pallet at work that I see come through the yard. Oak pallets are a GREAT way to stretch the woodpile a bit:greenchainsaw: Similarly though, it is quite depressing to see some of the amazingly clean oak they use for pallets. Some of it is NICE:dizzy:

What I did today/my wood shed/my wood hauler...

YOu sure you have enough lights on that dodge? :greenchainsaw:

1/2 ton pickup woodhauler reality check

The reason yours probably gets around better is the extra weight from that utility bed, not IFS:) That said, for reliability and durability in a 3/4 or 1-ton, a solid front axle is what you want.

1/2 ton pickup woodhauler reality check

Ill NEVER buy anything lighter than a true 3/4 ton ever again. And Ill never run tires lighter than E rated. I routinely load my '96 Powerstroke to the hilt. Tires suffer more than anything. To my knowledge, the rear end has never seen anything but fluid changes. Full float Sterling 10.25...

    Woodstove Photos

Here is the only photo I have of our Vermont Castings Catalyst stove... Taken prior to buying the home a few years ago So far, it have proven to be sufficient to heat a 2800 square foot home, and routinely provides 8-10 hour burn times using soft woods.

Let's "palletize" the firewood on metal pallets...

Am much as I like the idea, I dont even want to think about how you unload those things.

I wait till the leaves are off the trees

All you guys talking about leaves.... All the trees around here have needles :greenchainsaw:

Source for single wall woodstove pipe?

In the process fixing the current stovepipe in the house. I got everything apart for cleaning and inspection, and it seems I need to replace a few things. One main portion being the large stovepipe offset. 8"pipe, 15" overall height, and 15" offset, front to rear. A few of the seams have...

Some log truck pictures / 10 cord

Interesting way to load. I bet the DOT loves it..... not :jawdrop:
  19. I

My pickup truck bed vs cord

Uh, REAL truck? Ive got a 3/4 ton hauling a cord and a half. Your 1 ton hauling just 2 cord? Id hope it could haul more than that. Also, wanna race up that hill? I betcha Id win :) Nice truck though

    farmers almanac

Up here in Idaho, I cannot imagine a worse winter than last winter. We had more than DOUBLE our average snowfall, and it snowed off and on all the way into JUNE :jawdrop: That said, Ive already got more than double the firewood split and stacked that I had last year
