Scott: I'm southeast of New Castle, outside of a little town called Milton, down by Connersville.

Anyone ever rigged a splitter to..

Yeah used to work for a junk yard that would shovel dirt into the cars before they crushed them, then would turn a water hose on them before hauling them in.

    neighbor watering my woodpile

I would reply to this thread, but my policy is to "never talk to people or acknowledge them"

    OK here goes...

Sprung 22: Does your basement have a suspended ceiling, if it does it will reduce the radiant effect. It will help if you remove some of the panels directly above the stove.

    fake monkey balls?

My wife was on that kick a few years ago, she had these things in the bottom of every cabinet and behind every door. One morning I noticed that a spider had built a web from the bottom of the bathroom vanity and anchored the third point on nothing less than the Hedgeball. That pretty much...

I would put a muffler on it. IMHO

Use the kitchen table, the wife will get over it. Eventually

    Build a Soda Blaster

I used to work for a shop that had soda blasting equipment, and it is great for aluminum and other soft materials. I have seen soda blasting used to remove graffiti from the sides of city buses and road signs without damaging the original paint. We also used it on tombstones that punks had...

Do you really need that expensive wood hauling equipment?

No offense taken here. I may have sounded a little sour, been a tough week, got laid off last Thursday. So I'm cutting wood, not all bad.

Do you really need that expensive wood hauling equipment?

My dad and uncle both used to take the backseats out of their cars and haul coal in the floor. When it's all you got, you find a way to make it happen. Things go the way they have been in this country, there may be some more people finding that out.

What kind of wood is this?

+1 Definitly not Poplar or Oak

    Another F.O.A load

I know what you mean, I have a set of sidemount toolboxes that I've been wanting to put on my 3/4 ton flat bed, but I hate to give up the wood hauling room. But it sure would be handy to have all the compartments for saws and gear. What chain you got on that yellow saw?

    Newbie question

Yes, probably "tulip poplar" not great but cuts and splits good. I would put it as a little better than silver maple and a little below Hackberry, if that is any help. If you don't have easy access to anything better, then I would go for it, I would get it soon if I was going to get for next year.

    Strange Problem

+1 on the kill wire, have an 045 stihl that I got for 35 bucks, because it had that problem. It wouldn't die till you touched to the wood, but still the same possible problem.

Bonanza of wood but a catch!

I'd pass, or maybe see if you could do a section at a time, like someone else suggested.

Finally got my firewooding saw box put together!

Looks pretty similar to what I've got, only thing I did to mine was paint it Hi-Viz orange. That way when I set it down out in the woods I can find it, hopefully before I back over it with the truck.

    old school log hauler

Awesome, I've always wanted one of those. What engine does that have?

    Dropped Large Oak

You got it down where you wanted it and no one got hurt, good job. But even though every thing went good, you are able to look at what you did and see how you could have done something better, those are the kind that I like to work with. PLUS with that shirt, you must know what your doing.
