I miss spoke on the cost of the kit and what I spent on it. Right at $350, $400 if ya count the case/bearing tool. That was 40 itself. Hope to make this 372 clone, Poulan 4000, and 3000 as my go to firewood saws. If by chance I get into really big trees, then the 5200 and 385xp will come into...

Sorry, this isn't Poulan specific, just an update to a question somebody asked," what did ya get for Christmas" some months ago. I got one of them China clone 372xp kits from Farmertech. I put it together in Jan. sometime, but was much later when we had a warm day before I tried to fire it up...

Nice! I don't have a bow on any of my Poulans, but I have stated in the past, the 4000 is my favorite all around Poulan saw. I also use a 3000 and a 5200, depending on size of wood I'm dealing with, but the 4000 is the first saw in the bed to go to the woods. Gregg,

Prices have definitely gone up with the Farmertec parts. I think about $45 for 76cc p/c. Better quality Hyway 76cc p/c with pop-up like $120. Can't imagine what oem might be. I can see where this saw would be a good candidate for folks wanting to start porting a saw. I'm gonna leave well...

I hear ya. Earlier this summer was at a Husqvarna dealer near me. Happened to see a new 372xp on the wall. Turns out it was an XTourq version, was $1,100. Yikes!! Makes me think my old Poulans are still just fine. Even at todays high prices, could buy a hand full of good Poulas for that. Gregg,

Thanks Kevin, Funny you mention that o-ring. I havn't checked all the little parts, screws etc. I watched several videos of guys building these kits that mentioned that o-ring. so I already ordered one, just in case. Dang it..lol I been trying to decide on going with a 76cc big bore...

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I got one of those Farmertec " Chinese clone saw kits". The 372xp kits to be exact. Of all "modern saws", the 372xp has been a desire of mine. Just to expensive, even for used one now days. I don't really have a need for one. Have plenty Poulans to get the job...

Welcome, and don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I too bought my first Poulan, a 3400 brand new in 1986. Still have the owners manual for that one also. I tried the "Husky recoil pulley repair earlier this summer, on one of my 4000's. It worked great! If ya can't find a real one. Gregg,

Thanks Possum, for letting us know about Steve (67mustang). Steve made the trip up here to our Poulan GTG;s several times. Not a nicer guy to be found, I can honestly say. Here is a pic of Steve at our first Poulan GTG, Sad news indeed. :( Gregg,

I don't think I have ever tried thinning with diesel as some suggest. But did use a jug of "winter" bar oil once I think. Thats why I do my wood cutting spring, summer, and fall. To darn cold for this quickly aging old fart. When its 10 degrees out, I'm standing in a wood heated house with a...

Just wanted to show couple pics that I wasn't slackin off, and did finish the job. lol Sharpened the chain but didn't cut good at all. So went and put my 30" Poulan bar back on and used that. Been using a cheaper 28" Forester bar last couple years, to save the better one some. Was thinking...

Thought I would post few more pics and a video of my old Poulan still gettin it done. Probably the last real big tree I'm gonna work on this year. The big trees is where the 5200 shines. I made maybe 1/2 dozen more bucking cuts after I turned the camera off, and like a dumb ass, I was cuttin in...

I think its a safe bet it is a 4000 Kevin, Who knows what parts have been swapped over the years. I have never seen a 4000 with a black upper handle either, like is on a a late 3400 or 3800. Another thing I have noticed too, and maybe its just my limited experience, all 4000 clutch covers I...

Past couple days I been giving the "old Poulans" a chance to shine, and they did just great. I think they like the cooler weather, like me. Big swamp White Oak, that died last year. Were a few leaves on the trunk this spring, but didn't last long. I measured the main log to the first crotch at...

Can't help with that, but here is a .pdf file of the gaskets for a 5200. There were made to be printed out, so you can make your own. Just have it set on 100% scale. so they are exact size. Thats if I can get this to load. Gregg,

This not chainsaw related. but was interesting to me as I was out in woods pickin up wood. Had a visitor fly in and land in a tree right next to where I was working and watched me for some time. Just thought I would post couple pics of some work couple old green Poulan saws can still do. Don't need no stinkin modern $1.500 electronic fuel injected, supercharged, plastic saws. ;) Used the 4200 to drop this storm damaged 24" hickory. I hate tackling these trees with the tops broke and...
