    "In tree" gear

I wear blue jeans, long sleeve wrangler(denim) work shirt, steel toe steel shank leather boots, helmet, eye and ear protection and leather gloves. We don't have the standards ya'll have overseas such as "safety boots" and chainsaw protective clothing, although it is probably the safest way.

    "In tree" gear

water when ya'll say water, is it brought up in bottles, camelbak, etc? I just have bottles sent up by rope periodically.

Are my questions invalid to the topic? I am not an a professional arborist, but would still like to learn a little more about what is supposed to be helping my trees physically or chemically.

    "In tree" gear

Other stuff I do keep a figure 8 clipped on the extra D in front. I need a small bag for little stuff like cell phones. In another thread, 1I'd Jak was topping some big cedars and kept his climbing line in a backpack to keep it from tangling. I thought that was a great idea. I haven't...

    "In tree" gear

I'm sure this has been brought up several times over the years but I am inadequate with the search function and it was requested that i start a thread concerning gear I haul into the trees with me. I have a basic heavy weaver saddle I attach my climbing line to. I have a flip line hanging on...

Giant mulch rings...never seen one, and don't believe in them!

Questions So, how do you know the store-bought mulch is doing anything? And, where does most store-bought mulch come from? Does it have anything bad in it? Is most tested or certified to be free of bad stuff? What about the dyes used in a lot of mulch? How does store bought mulch compare...

    throwline bag tips

My throw-line does dangle freely. For now the only reason for me to have a container up in the tree with me, would be for pocket stuff i cant get to with a saddle on like cell phones, pocket knives, etc.

    throwline bag tips

wow... it seems to me a mountain out of a mole hill. I have not had any problems yet just having my thowbag clipped to my saddle with line dangling. maybe i'm not advanced enough to have so much equipment for it to tangle in, but I manage with a climbing rope, rigging line, and throwline...

    Never let your guard down!

That is another good point! But, this time it could have been avoided with a little more instruction on my part, as we had previously taken off three others just like it from the same location in the tree with no adverse effects.

    Never let your guard down!

Sunday, I had to finish a job removing two pine trees and my helper failed to show up. After calling everyone I know, I proceeded to pick up a guy from the local mission to help for the day. He was to be my ground person/rope tender. I walked him through every limb except the last one on the...

    Torn bluejeans

i appreciate the advice! And i'll look into it. But, the above posts were meant to be in reference to accidents happening while the saw is off. I would think if the saw dawgs came close enough to rip pants while running, we'd have heard about it in the injuries and fatalities section. Like i...

    Torn bluejeans

that sucks. well, i can buy several pair of walmart rustlers for what they want for one pair of arborwear pants. We'll just have to see how how many jeans i tear up in the coming months.

    Torn bluejeans

Hadn't thought of dawgs tearing jeans, but can see how it could happen. I may check out the Arborwear pants. I have seen them in catalogs but didn't think they'd be worth the money.

    Torn bluejeans

Just a lighthearted question: How many here have torn jean legs with their climbing spikes? I just got a new set of spikes and tore a pants leg not paying attention.

    Need assistance from the experts

I... don't think you can go wrong with any of those. The 260 is a little small for 20 inch hardwood in my opinion, but its a stihl... it'll work!

    Logging and Boy Scouts

I am an Eagle Scout. I have trekked Philmont Scout Ranch. 7 days in the back country. Anyone who has been there knows that place would be devestated by a wildfire because of all the brush and dead wood. That place needs some "cleanup." It is one of the most beautiful places i've been to and...

    klein tree climbers

I emailed Klein and the reply was: Send in to be warranty'd. I can get some nickel/brass shoulder nuts and machine screws at the local fastener shop without having to wait on basically the same thing. I think this will be my course of action. I will monitor the new hardware closely and...
