    Happy Thanksgiving chainsaw queers

Admitted Gear Queer! Doing the same thing I do every other day, working. I give thanks to be alive for another day. I hope you all have a good day with as much family as you can muster and that you and yours all get home safe. Bill

    Black Friday 2012

I remember driving by one of the large malls one year at 04:00 on my way hunting and laughing at those idiots standing in line. 2.5 hours later I was sitting on a high ridge, teeth chattering and ice forming in my mustache wondering if they had any hot coffee in that mall.... These days I...

    Saw Chain Gauge!

I just have two saws now but have standardized even those as I have miscellaneous bars and chains hanging around. Getting rid of all except 16" .050 .325 for the small saw and 20" 0.050 3/8" and 26 .058 3/8" for he larger saw. The 26" bar just came in .058. Much easier to remember that way and...

What did you do this weekend?

My kids were up - my son went to funeral home for his good friend killed last week, we hung Christmas lights, took my wife and daughter to the new Vampire movie and went to a 1 year memorial for my Dad... kind of a confusing weekend? Saw content- I got to show my 562XP off to my son :) Bill

    Auto-tunes in the shop

No one has thrown dirt in my face yet so I feel pretty good! LOL! Appomattox is a little drive! I used to pass through there frequently on my way to Crewe- Dad was from there and siblings still had a farm with 2 fishing ponds on it. Lots of time spent camping and fishing there. I was...

    Auto-tunes in the shop

Hustihler, I am guessing your dealer is over in Moneta on 122 ;) I have always liked those folks- treated me well on a couple of service issues. V.I.C.E. in Roanoke has the diagnostics tools and did me right on the one service call I have had with them(non autotune related). I know a...

Picking up my 562xp today - bar suggestions

Baileys is a site sponsor and they have 26" Tsumura made Carlton bars on closeout for 49.95.. not a bad option for an occasional use longer bar. Bill

Picking up my 562xp today - bar suggestions

I currently have 18"(Total solid), 20"(Carlton DE Solid) and 24"(Sugihara) bars. I will be getting a 562XP soon and I plan to get rid of all three bars and get a 20" Techlite for 90% of my use and a Carlton Tsumura 26" for stumping and for felling wider trees. 3/8 .050 72DL loops are pretty...

Thanks Hurricane Sandy - Need suggestion

Already alot of excellent advice here. I would add only to ask your buddy to teach you how to read springpoles and tension in downed or twisted trees. Also about removing heavy limbs and log roll. These things take time to learn and he might shorten that curve and prevent an injury for you. Bill

    Help A Busted Up Logger........Win A Chainsaw

Contact made. I am pretty red faced ashamed at winning. Road has been rough lately and I did little and have been around less. I am truly grateful for a bit of good luck and intend to repay that luck some. I was happy to give even a little and really proud of these events to help people out...

    Cornmaze w\ chainsaw

Brought back a memory or two for me- Early teens and went to a haunted house that was in a house. Guy comes down the hall with chainsaw and I just laugh- he gets offended and shoves chainsaw in my chest and me against wall. Laughing stopped. Chainsaw soon stopped. Cops came, fun stopped...

Shipping..... no wonder the P.O. is going broke.

I once had a knife leave California, go to Anchorage, AK then to Pennsylvania before getting to Virginia. Back when I shipped reptiles Air Express, we referred to Atlanta as "The Black Hole". You could track a shipment there and it might disappear completely for a few days. Even the airline...

New guy needing help with chainsaw decision

Just one guys opinion but I am looking really hard at the 555 for my main saw to go along with my 435 for small stuff. I am not a pro cutter so I think it should last me for a long time. Bill

    top 5 must have saws

I do not climb so: 1) Ms200R rear handle- 2) Husq 550XP 3) 365XT/372/044- ported is even better 4) pole saw That would be all I would feel like I need. Plenty of other good saws to choose from. My little 435 does a good job as a limbing saw for cheap $$. Bill 5) 390XP ;)...

    Taking pics of piston/cylinder- tips?

:) I do that and did it today- trying to get a good close shot of a Black Window. I did xoom lense all the way out and then move until focus became spotty but subject was still not big/close enough. I really need to spend time learing this camera in manual settings. When I studied...

    Taking pics of piston/cylinder- tips?

OK I must suck at operating a camera. I have a decent camera- Cannon G10 and set the macro but still cannot get it to focus close and not enough light in cylinder for decent photo..... I have tried tipping up to catch strong overhead lights but camera blocks it out, tried removing plug and...

    husky 555

Swap Yankee- Agreed! I have owned and shot rifles by AICS and GAP- many call them sniper rifles.... only true if the owner is employed in LEO or military slotted as a job title= Sniper. A "pro" chainsaw is owned owned and operated by someone making a living using a saw. A "pro grade"...

    wich saw to buy??

I did not see Husqvarna 353 mentioned- very good dependable saws and there should be plenty on the used market. 2152- pretty sure that is same as Husky 353? Bill
