    Performance saws

Old Mick turned into a crackhead by all accounts. I had a lot of Australian guys contacting me about him. One even drove 6 hours to meet him face to face and his missus lied to this guy's face and said that Mick doesn't live there anymore. Neighbours had seen him going in and out of the house...

    Fast-Filer Chain Filing Guide

Yeah those signs on the side of the road warning of microsleeps are a great at distracting drivers and making them crash for other reasons :)

    Fast-Filer Chain Filing Guide

The Fast Filer was actually designed by Brett Johnson who owns a chainsaw shop in Tasmania. He got it into production in conjunction with Jakmax (connected to PMD International/Archer). Brett has been around for a long time and is a really top guy. Used to be the largest Makita chainsaw dealer...

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

That's true but the chrome is what holds an edge. You can have the best base material on the planet but with poor chrome plating it's useless. No point having Jap steel with poor Chinese chrome plating!

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

Stihl have priced themselves out of the market. They are honestly beyond a joke now. Their RRP per drivelink is $1.10 now in Australia. The worst thing is that their pricing has elevated Husky and Oregon pricing too so they're all jumping on the bandwagon. Nothing short of a rort. You'll be...

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

OK guys. I gave a 76DL loop of the Archer .404" .063" semi chisel and a 20" loop of their 3/8" .063" semi chisel a run. Very impressed. Their .404" is without a doubt some of the nicest .404" I've run. Holds an edge well and due to the oil groove in the drivelink it oils brilliantly. This was in...

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

.404 chipper is great. I'm running it myself on the dirty stuff. Next best thing to carbide. I'm running Carlton though. Been discontinued for a while now.

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

Jakmax in Australia have been going hard on Archer over the last few months. The latest GV Evo2 Chinese chain isn't actually too bad and I'd near guarantee that Archer will be as good or better.

Hi Brad. I poke my nose in occasionally to see how a few things are going :)

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

The Archer chain so far is actually stacking up OK. As with all Chinese manufacturing though you really have to keep your eye on them so they don't substitute cheaper steel in and run off with your good stuff. We've seen Australian companies in my industry (agriculture) send steel billets to...

Archer Saw chain, made in Australia

That's actually good to look at. I can't work out how the hell they'd be efficient with that many people on an otherwise automated process.

    the all aussie dribble thread!

I also pulled my site sponsorship. Mainly because of the knobend newbies on this site arguing with all the experienced guys when they clearly haven't got a clue. Good blokes on the dribble thread though.

    the all aussie dribble thread!

Mate I haven't been able to work out which way is up lately :) Been all over the shop for work, then tree jobs, more work, interstate work. Crikey. Then throw a 3 1/2 year old on top of that ;)

    Can I switch MS291 to 3/8" Pitch, .050" Gauge, 60 links?

Going from a .050" bar to .063" will definitely help with clogging and oiling issues. In your case it's a bit different but in Australia Huskys are all .058" and Stihl's are all .063" with the exception of low profile (picco/micro picco) 3/8" chain and of course 1/4".

    the all aussie dribble thread!

The stupid thing is that you can buy a Jap Tsumura or German made Carlton for only a few bucks more. Sadly nearly all of the cheaper laminated bars apart from Stihl are coming out of China or Taiwan. Many are absolute garbage too.

    Can I switch MS291 to 3/8" Pitch, .050" Gauge, 60 links?

Straight swap Ben and an 029 will have absolutely no trouble running a 16" 3/8" bar and chain setup. The 3003 mount bar is exactly what you need.

    GypoLogger's Yukon Cabin

I don't know about this Gypo bloke. He pops up on the All Aussie Dribble Thread occasionally and makes fun of us. Personally I don't trust the guy. Oh and he has a fascination with Koala farts that's a tad disturbing.
