    Homelite C-91

Found an old Homelite C-91 today at the local scrap yard, I saw it laying there with another older model Homelite big saw, the older saw is blue and looks unlike anything i've ever seen before, the C-91 is red. The blue saw is locked, but the C-91 turns over, havn't put any gas in it yet, as...

    Kind of off topic: Revolver

Ruger Bearcat, stainless or blued whatever suits your preference, myself I like the stainless model for it's resistance to rust, ease of maintenance, shows very little wear as it's a brushed finish, the Bearcat shoots accurately, and is small enough to fit just about anywhere.

Is a blue Homelite XL worth fixing

I had an old Homelite Super XL given to me, one of the blue XL automatics, Is it worth restoring or should I just put a carb kit in it and run it as is. It looks to be a pretty nice saw, but I don't know much about it. Can anyone give me some specs on it. Thanks Kevin

Snow and Nealley Axes and Mauls

Are Snow and Nealley axes and mauls really worth the extra bucks, I like that they are made in the USA, and expect them to be high quality, but figured I'd check to see if anyone has experience with em. Kevin

Two books: Old-time logging in the Lake States

2 more good books, WV Logging Check out Tumult on the Mountains: Lumbering in West Virginia 1770-1920 by Roy Clarkson, and On Beyond Leatherbark: The Cass Saga also by Roy Clarkson, both are great reads if you're interested in WV history, or the history of rail logging between 1900 and 1960

    boot grease

What do y'all use to grease your boots for waterproof and preservation. I've been using Vaseline and sno-seal for years with good results, but figured I'd get some opinions to see if there is something better out there. Kevin

the boots i initially posted about were out of stock and because of being on closeout no longer available, so I ordered a pair of these http://www.hoffmanboots.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=192C 16" tall, non steel toes so my feet won't freeze off in the winter, replaceable calk soles, and...

Just got a new pair of boots

A normal curse turned out to be a blessing for once... normally I have to custom order boots, not a lot of people carry 13-14 size boots around here as a standard stock size item. It does come in handy from time to time though when you find boots on sale often times the only sizes left are the...

    Protection--what do you wear?

nothing more than jeans, t shirt (long sleeve flannel if it's cold), ball cap, and steel toe boots for me, although the new set of calk boots i bought are soft toe. I've found hearing protection to cover the sounds of falling objects, saw protective clothing gets too bulky and hard to maneuver...
