    562xp Hesitation Question

Also, what are the problems with the new EL48's? I hadn't heard about issues yet...

    562xp Hesitation Question

So after 38 pages and a few youtube videos do I understand this correctly? The EL44 had fewer problem cases than the EL46, and the EL44's that did have problems were typically fixed by rotating the throttle butterfly until it was correctly indexed so its notches lined up with the transfer...

    562xp Hesitation Question

I was recently given a brand new 562XP and haven't had a chance to run it yet. It's got a 2012 manufacture date (must have been on the shelf for a while) and a EL44B carb. Any predictions on whether it will have issues?

    Which Klotz?

Yeah, the snowmobile techniplate is exactly what I have. The guy on the Klotz 800 number says the only difference between the Snowmobile Techniplate and the Motorcycle Techniplate is the decal on the jug. Maybe I'm not getting "the smell" because it's not actually burning because the flash...

    Which Klotz?

Slightly OT but which Klotz has "the smell"? My dad had a Hodaka dirt bike eons ago (probably late 1960s) and he says that he had problems with it siezing until he started running Klotz. Not only did it not sieze any more but it had more power and had a neat "exotic"/"racy" smell. He says...

Best bar length for ms 290 farm boss

You learn something every day... thanks.

Best bar length for ms 290 farm boss

I guess that makes sense, it just seems to me like the friction of the chain on the bar is nothing compared to the friction of the chain in the wood and the wood doesn't change size when you change bar length (in this case). Thanks for the explanation.

Best bar length for ms 290 farm boss

I don't get it I've never really understood this. If he's cutting wood that he can get through with a 16" bar, then why would a 20" bar be any slower? If he was switching to 20" wood then I could see it using more power but if the wood is the same diameter then how does bar length affect...

    288xp vs 575xp for 20" hardwood bucking

I've never run a 575 yet (putting one back together now...) but I have run a 288xp a good bit and it wouldn't break a sweat with a 28" bar. 288 is a pretty heavy saw but for just bucking I don't think weight hurts. 575 is probably just fine too, I just haven't run one yet.

Best Bar Length for Ballance and Handling on 570/575/576?

I have a 575xp power head that I'm planning to run so I need a bar for it. I don't know if I should get a 24" or 28" bar. I cut softwoods for firewood and have been using a 288xp w/ 32" and only two times in three years have I cut anything that I really needed 32" for so I think 24" would be...

Ok thanks for clearing that up!

    288XP IPL Question

Looking at the chain brake page on the IPL for my 1989 288XP, what is the difference between part number 503 57 94-02, and part number 503 57 95-01? They're both at the top and say "complete" but one has an asterisk and the other has two asterisks.

Are there two grades of Husqvarna saws

I was wondering about this. I've been told that the only difference between a 359 and 357xp is the xp is ported differently for more top end horsepower. Similarly, the 570 and 575xp seem to share everything except the cylinder and the decals... So what does XP mean? Is there a...

    Rebuilding a 575 xp

Have you got the saw together yet? I might be inheriting a 575 project soon and am interested in your results with the sealed bearings.

    Homelite SXLAO Clutch Locked Up

Fixed Thanks. I squirted some penetrating oil into the end of the bearing and then went to Lowes for some rope for the cylinder and then I was able to get it apart. I smacked it with the hammer/punch a couple times and it broke loose like you said. The bearing looks like its in perfect...

    Homelite SXLAO Clutch Locked Up

I'm sure it would do an effective job... I'm probably a lot easier to cut than a big Doug Fir.

    Homelite SXLAO Clutch Locked Up

I have an old (blue) Super XL Auto Oiler that I cut firewood with for a couple years. I haven't cut with it for the last couple years because I've been borrowing a 288XP... I recently got my own 288XP project and decided to sell the Homelite to help fund some parts. I got the chains nice...

    Ring End Gap Position?

    Ring End Gap Position?

Hey Guys, Forgive the newbie question but does it matter where the ring end gap ends up? It seems to me like if it travels over a port the free ends of the ring could stick out a little bit and hang up on the port. Is there a best way to point it? This is on a 288XP. Thanks.
