I do not own one , but my wife and I are proud owners of two. Very special tools. We do not use them much with hydraulic and eclectric splitters getting most of the action, but they are some of the best tools made.

    Maul handle replacement question

I am too busy for that none sense. When you get the handles try and dry them real good before you set the maul. In the winter a few days close to the stove works well. After the tool is set paint on the end grain helps the handle retain any moisture left.

I had a big pile of wood and no money. My wife had a twenty her mom had sent her. I said if you buy an axe I will give you split wood. The rest is history. Best investment my wife ever made free wood for life.

    Maul handle replacement question

As far as I can tell the tool does not get as hot as one might think. The process is carried out with a cool stove.

    Maul handle replacement question

I have a multi purpose vise stand that I clamp my big belt sander in. A course belt shapes a handle quickly. As I mentioned, and am surprised that no one has told me I was a fool, I burned my last one in. I am new to the technique, but one burns the old handle out in the wood stove. The way...

    Maul handle replacement question

Yes I have made a handle before. I am shure it took some time. I was a yougster and did not know what I was doing. I made a long hickory handle for a hoe. I split the tree in quarters. The handle was a good one, but it did warp.

Somebody posted it here a year or two ago. I hvee lots of wooden handle tools and will make a order some day. The last one I fixed, I used an old timer trick. I heated the maul in the wood stove and burnt the handle in. The handle fits real tight.
