Man cut off own head with chainsaw

I'm surprised one of those little light timers was able to handle the current of a chainsaw. If I were him, I would've set it up with a good relay. You know, just to be safe. Electric chainsaws seldom require gas mix. :buttkick:

I hate to admit it...but I have a new favorite saw...

Top-handle saws are safe to use in buckets, but when your feet touch the ground, demons inhabit the saw and infuse it with evil "killyou" magics. Sincerely, OSHA

    Dolmar 401 Initial Report

+1 for you, Brad. Good, well written report and a chuckle over the nearly-instant muffler mod.

    Great Dealer (dumb me)

    Haha, ouch.

    Killed my Dolmar 5100S??

Yeah, that's why I switched. Synthetic blend or not, my gut was telling me that's just too thin.

I have to agree with you there. It's so commonplace these days that I rarely bother to complain anymore. We need more women like Raquel Welch.

    Killed my Dolmar 5100S??

Hear, hear. My 5100 came out of the box running lean, so I set the mix richer. This is SOP on any two-cycle. The first two gallons of gas were Opti2 mixed as the pillow pack recommended and she ran fine. I didn't like how lean the Opti2 was so when I ran out, I switched over to...

    Ever get confused?

Sometimes I fall down. P.S. You forgot ethanol.

    Great Dealer (dumb me)

The other day I over-torqued the carb. onto the heat dam of a Ryobi/Homelite trimmer and warped/tore the heat dam as a result. This was after I closed the carb. up and realized that I'd forgotten to check the height of the metering lever. So, I've gotta replace the heat dam I destroyed and go...

    1 or 2 piston rings?

It's not much good to give a rule of thumb, since there are so many variables (like Troll said), but: One ring: Less friction and weight Two rings: More friction, durability and sealing Edit: That's all things being equal. For an example of some variables involved, consider a cast iron...

    Carburetor Problem?

I'd probably just rebuild the carb and replace the gaskets. Why tug on your hair when kits are cheap and the process of rebuilding is a cinch? Edit: I would also check the fuel line and filter. I keep plenty of tubing laying around - if the fuel line has started to get stiff, then replace it...

Sweet. Not a bad five bucks, eh? :)

Do you drink beer while working on your saws?

The only people I've ever known to drink Corona with lime (and even salt) were... you know. I was always glad when they quit coming around and putting that nasty crap in my fridge. The beer fridge is on the patio and is named The Beerator. Personally, I drink Schlitz Malt Liquor - cheap...

    2009 Stihl Calender

Part 2, if I remember right - it's been a while since I've watched the movie. I remember that scene, though. It's much funnier if you watch the movie and get to see the scene in context.

Which of these 2 limbing saws would you buy?

For one-handing and reaching further. I do this quite a bit, but I grew up using chainsaws and I have more than enough wrist strength to control a little top handle. The closest I've ever come to an injury was accidentally touching the muffler on a saw I'd just killed. This makes limbing very...

Which of these 2 limbing saws would you buy?

Possibly - it really depends. As far as the weight of a saw goes, anything up to 12lbs is easy to manage. When you're dealing with small/light limbs, they can tend to snag and whip around with a saw like the Dolmar 5100 and a poorly maintained chain. The "secret" is to keep your chain very...

    Anybody ever heard of this?

Looks like a neat little setup if it works well. Some AS member feedback would be nice, since the average youtuber couldn't tell his ass from a hole in the ground.

    Is $384.99 a decent price for a Dolmar 5100 S?

I paid $384 for mine with an 18" bar. The dealer quoted $434 over the phone (which is the lowest quote I got from anyone), but I guess he appreciated the fact that I stopped him when he started to unbox it and assemble it. He looked very busy and I kinda wanted to do it myself anyway. He threw...

    Made in Japan, Stihl

It's been my experience in sharpening that the average person is satisfied as long as the blade is sharper than the spine.
