Hi, we haven't made any significant changes to our welding or steel. The steel we are using now is the same thickness and strength as 15 years ago. Hope this helps?

Perhaps there is some foreing material, weld slag etc.. in your reservoir tank and fluid. that will ruin a pump quickly. Also on a lot of pumps applying down or sideways pressure to the pump shaft can cause alot of failures as well..
Just an FYI SpeeCo has gone back to the solid steel footplates starting in about 2009. We also beefed them up even more than your model to avoid any potntial bending. Haven't had one bend yet since the design change. Oh, and I enjoyed your thread. nice job on the pics.
Thanks...
Tecumseh did I believe file for Chapter 11 or some type of bankruptcy protection a couple of years ago. That probably allowed them to stay in business, although they may be owned by someone else now.
People sometimes bid on their own stuff to make the price go up and to make some schill think "it must be worth alot" "look at the high bids!" believe it or not, there are people out there who are just that dumb.
manual for engine and splitter
If you can tell me what the model# of the splitter is I can get you a manual for the engine and the owner's manual. Also, can get you the Briggs engine#.
Thanks

ATF mix.. NO
It is not recommended to mix ATF fluid with regular hydraulic oil.
The best solution is to use the AW32 fluid. It will be thinner in cold weather but not nearly as thin as ATF. It should fare well in the summer months as well. Short of that, a tank heater will work fine...
What size cylinder does the Swisher have on it? Bore and length are going to have a lot to do with cycle times. Also, whether your tractor actually puts out what it is specd for is another variable. Also, the viscosity of the hydro fluid used can affect speed too.
Does anyone need a manual for a Huskee or Speeco log splitter? I have manuals going back to our first production unit in 1978. If you don't now the model# please send me some pics and I will i.d. it

If you would like, I can try to help determine why you are having problems with your splitter. Please call me if you want to here at Speeco

The newer solid steel plates have a large capital letter H on the bottom of the footplate. The older steel plates are simply flat on the bottom. The cast plates have a concave patternon the bottom.
Toe plates have been fixed. Never really had any big problems with the beams bending, only the toe plates that I am aware of. Toe plates are now solid steel 2" thick with extra bracing. The oil filter check valve problem was on a limited number of TSC units built in the summer/fall of 2008. We...
