    Vertical Mulching

That's not what the airspade does. It blast the soil out of the hole. You couldn't cause soil compaction with an airspade if you tried. love nick

    Tying split tail to caribiner

A good tight spliced eye can cinch as good as that triple fisherman. You expressed valid concerns about factory splices, but a splice can be inspected in the same way a knot can. What you're pointing out is that you are not looking close enough at the splice to determine if it is done right...

    help with splice

ADKPK- You might try a locking brummel. It is more secure than the straight bury. I believe this is better for tree guys. And just to verify, the splice you show in the picture, it is lock stitched in some way, right? love nick

Over pruning of large Blue Gum Eucs

Shaun- Does your info need to be species specific? That might be hard to find. What is this for? Are you trying to show someone reason's why they should/shouldn't over prune their tree? love nick

    Glide-style bridge on split-ring saddle

Just factor shipping into the cost of getting a perfect harness. Call up wesspur, order 5 harnesses, hang in them all for a few minutes/hour whatever you need. Then send back the 4 that you don't like. It'll be a pain, but would probably take less time than driving to an arb store to try...

    Splice Testing

I encourage break testing, though. Bad splices can still hold 1,000 pounds. That might only be 20% of the ABS.

    Splice Testing

To really know what the splice will hold, you have to break it. That's all there is to it. If you wanted, you could load it and consider it proof tested. You might say, "proof tested" to 1,000 pounds or something along those lines. Can you show pics of your splice? love nick

    TreeMotion vs TreeFlex

By far the most comfortable harness I've ever worn. I'm constantly amazed by how comfortable it is. I still have the same gripes. I'm not happy with the placement of the gear loops- I don't like the floppy dees. Mods? I pulled the sleeve off the bridge. It was bunching up and I didn't...

New England Ropes Recalls Climbing Lines Due to Fall Hazard

Fortunately for the tree-folk, this recall will not affect 99.9% of us. This is directed mostly at rock climbers. It is quite responsible of NER to take the extra step and notify us via the message boards just in case. Tree guys don't use dynamic rope, but some of us are rock climbers...
