    One Tough Logger

I had a call from a dealer looking for 11H chain for a two man saw. I am a nut for vintage saws so asked what his customer had figuring a restoration project. Sez this guy is putting a full shift with a Disston and is not the type to mess with in a bar.:jawdrop: All I could say was WOW.

    Dolmar blues

Sounds like you have an air leak, possibly around a crank seal. Have the dealer do a pressure check.

    Dolmar fans!!!!!!!!!!

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but the Dolmar PS-460's and 510's are being made in China. Like everyone else, Dolmar can't provide the product at the price point demanded by the consumer. The pro saws, four digit model #, are still being made in Germany but for how long is anybody's guess.

    what year is my saw?

Here ya go. Looks like it was very limited production. http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/c1b326816e2671c688256d370082aca1?OpenDocument

Compression button on a stihl 075?

I had a rude word for those 075 decom valves. They either failed outright or backed out of the cylinder. I never found a way to keep them secured.

Looking for info on porting an MS170.....

You likely will not find much The MS170 is their 30cc entry level consumer model and there is really no point trying to make it scream other than entertainment value. If you want a light weight hot rod try the MS200.

STRANGE husky 365 for the Russian Market...

I dunno, it must work but sure looks awkward.

    Pioneer chainsaws

According to Mike it is a 58cc.

Why is Husqvarna making Dealer costs public?

Some dealers want to keep the doors open, pay the bills, and have enough left over for a bag of turnips. However, they still need to be competitive in order to sell product. I used to sell out door power equipment and got fed up with competitors selling at 10 points over cost just to move saws.

How do you mod a lawn mower

Make sure it is running at the proper speed with a tach.

    Sears chain saw

Joe, that is the old Poulan XXV but from your user name I suspect you have that figured out. :greenchainsaw: hwrdpromac800, I recently had a call for that chain you mention and found Oregon still makes it. The customer wanted it for some kind of beam saw.

This should be moved to the Off the Topic forum.

    Pioneer chainsaws

I would not Permatex the exhaust gasket, too much heat and there is really no point. Besides, I hate working on an engine that somebody glued together. I have been enjoying this thread, got a soft spot for Pioneers. They were tough saws and most were easy to work on.

    Homelite Chainsaws

Brian, it just means yours is the old timer built before 1971. I believe that is when Homelite changed the color.

Who here has had great weather this summer?

That is putting it mildly. Temperature records were broken, 34C which is 100F, at Vancouver airport and a lot hotter in the interior. This has to be the worst fire season on record.

    Briggs Intec 16hp question?...

The head gasket may be the problem. If it leaks between the cylinder and push rod chamber the crank case will pressurize and push oil.

More on Bears...Careful When Out In the Wood

There was a bear sighting not far from here this week, the CO tranquilized and moved it. Still not sure how a bear could have got into the area without being spotted sooner unless it swam across the Fraser river, an unlikely possibility.

    Quebec town bans excessive noise

This is really stupid, some cranky old monsieur with nothing else to do had to complain. No table saw, no electric drill, no chain saw on a Sunday but lawnmowers are exempt. Guess even council members have to cut their lawns.

new (to me) 28 inch bar

Replace the tip. Barring that, pump it full of grease and keep turning it. After a while it will fail and you will need to replace it.

    What Chain for Ripping

The only difference between ripping and cross cut chain is the grind so you can make your own if necessary. Some ripping chain manufacturers vary the cutter spacing but it is not necessary.
