There was a time not long ago,MY2000 and earlier, before GM put the allison behind the Duramax, when you had to buy a handshaker behind your big block or diesel IF you wanted to tow heavy or haul alot and not have transmisson problems due to overheating and not enough clutch capacity or gear...
Here is one of my work areas, this cement pad makes loading a breeze, here im loading my dump trailer with the old Michican loader, kinda hard to hold the phone and run the loader, did the best I could.....it takes about 3 heaps of the 3 yard bucket to load the 7x14x3 trailer....this wood was all...
I just cut for my own use, probably use 13-18 cord a season,I can't keep track of it very good,20x20 with 6 ft legs full and a good 12 ft wide about 12 foot outside the back as well...not sure how many cord are here eithe..
Whatever size your going to go with ,go bigger...I was going to go with a smaller unit, thankfully I changed my mind thinking I'd heat my 1600 sq ft shop down the road...thank god I did,I barely make it home now to feed my boiler sometimes.I wish I had a smaller boiler that had a smaller door...
Thank you for the pictures you are busting your butt with wood.... People think I'm crazy for how big my woodpile is now that now I can show than yours and say I'm not alone... Yours is definitely bigger than mine :)
It is cool looking but unless all your wood is straight and knot free it's not very useful, and I also do not like putting sawdust in my finished woodpile... It's kind of useless for outdoor wood boiler owners as the rounds it can handle are too small to be of any real use to anyone with a decent...
Great job on the boiler rebuild while I would like to do exactly as you have I don't think this boiler is worth investing that kind of time and money into... I have got five years out of this boiler so far it will probably take me another 2 to 3 years to get the new one finished . I would be...
I have a shaver 250 ,on December 12 th it will be 5 seasons old,and mine and the other 6 we bought, none of them leak...they have Lot of issues trust me,but so far so good,I will be watching that area closely for problems..sorry you had trouble with yours and I too would never buy another Shaver...
Nice job! Looks like you did it all on the cheap! I'd like to do a similar unit .My current Shaver 250 has been ok but it's too small for my home,I'd like to build one with a 42" inner tank,at least 6 ft long, with a 24x 30 door...tired of not being able to load big rounds thru my 18" door...
So sorry for your loss,I know your pain so well,I lost my 10 yr old GSD ,got hit by a car, that dog was my best friend for 10 yrs spent every day with me,went to work every day with me...it'll be 10 yrs on 6/3/13 ,not a day goes by when you won't think of Millie,I know you'll be reunited one day...
I'd check local shops for someone with an ultra sonic bath cleaner, disassemble the carb and drop it in and just wait,it will get everything out of it..my brother just bought one for his shop it's a nice little addition, and it works great.
I burn 360 days a year, the difference is biggest in the summer..but there is a very noticeable difference all the time.i have 109 ft total length and 65 ft is in th ground, the rest is in the air,and in my attic,I'm using a 4" drain tile over a 4" perferoated pipe, with sand around the pec,and...
I ran the entire first season 24/7/365. The second season,I changed to on demand, and what a difference in wood comsumption! It was nice getting the first electric bill after, and im saving about 15 dollars every 2 months by running on demand...only downside is my indoor boiler isnt running as hot...
Very nice job! Makes mine look rough and unfinished....I really like how you braced under the wedge, very important,I used a 5x30 cylinder,if I had it to do over I'd go with a 4.5" .ive found the 5" is too strong coupled with the 3400 psi of my caterpillar SS.
We got 12-14" here in orange county, no major issues, roads were really bad for a few hrs,I was suprised to still see people ignoring the state of emergency order..I plowed my accounts without incident, going to have to bring in the skid steer soon and move back some piles if we dont get some...
