    Hearthstone Heritage help.

Yep! that makes sense. It looks like she tossed her upper grate, and will have to be replaced. Thanks Casey!!

    Hearthstone Heritage help.

Thanks for the info! Hers does have an ash pan, with a grate and a lever that makes no sense, probably because it's missing something or another.

    Hearthstone Heritage help.

Granny(The MIL) has been burning in a early model 8021, and being old school, simply tossed the "Newfangled" bits that wore out, and kept burning in the thing, until I noticed some "Spare parts" the baffle bracket and the bottom grate missing. I have eyeballed the parts illustration...

This is why long bars cut faster than short bars.......

******* it, you need to hang out in the local Saw shop a bit. Every hickerbilly with a MS310, brags they can run a 25" if they want to...when picking up their 3 loops of 20" Safety chain, hot off the grinder. The clarity of purpose is inspiring. Right up there with the Brain sturgeons in...

As much mirth that is involved....Tony has a point. 90% the idiots beating their NASCAR T-shirt covered chest, and proclaiming Budweiser and Stihl "Farm Boss" as the best on the planet, have one thing in common.... The Jackass that signed on, to color coding safety chain. Kinda pathetic...

    Interesting observations

 I have noticed that idiots in the woods, see **** that ain't there, because they want to be distracted from reality. Reality involves work. Good luck. The Manitou is gonna own your ass.

What makes a modded work saw a modded work saw?

Pop up piston/lowered jug, polished and corrected ports, reamed or replaced carb, Compression in the 180psi range, and still start on the third pull cold. One guy in Ohio, can do it. He doesn't post here. Plenty of folks elsewhere.

Thinking about having my 261c souped up

This. Randy has gotten the mojo down on the 261. His might even keep up with a good 346XP.;)

    346xp best sprocket/chain combo

Therin lies the rub, and the truth. 3/8 is a wider kerf, and more resistance at the tooth, for a slightly deeper depth of cut per tooth....just fewer cutters per revolution, and less mechanical advantage/Torque, due to larger Rim. .325 cut's as much per revolution, due to more cutters...

Seasoning times. What species of wood burns hot and long and doesn't need to be seasoned

Having been in a corner more than a little, thanks to cutting and splitting for two, and getting behind.... Take everything you can, and get everything green stacked in rounds, off the ground. Split dries faster, but not much faster. Get it drying out now. Downed stuff has to be treated as...

    346xp best sprocket/chain combo

Same here. I tried 3/8" and it was no faster, slightly touchier in the sticky junk like Elm, and not as smooth at all(Carlton) in the hard stuff. 16" loops wont interchange with anything else in the stable, so it didn't make sense. I went back to .325 on a 16", and left it there. No need to fuss.

The Official Michigan GTG (August 22 2015)

I caught him trying not to giggle running my ported 346XP. Couple of cookies, and he went right to noodling with the thing.:dancing::dancing: Somebody planted an evil seed.... Sarah's 562 must have gotten too him. He's good folks though, and held his bearing. "Still a Husky":laughing...

How often do you sharpen your chain?

Every two tanks, it's time for a touch up if things are going well. It's a general rule though, and I seldom seem to get that far except when snipping the smaller stuff off limbs. Usually, on stems, I'll find a rock in the bark, or have some gawdawfull frozen on sand to deal with. As soon as I...

    New bug...

Great. The USDA just keeps on showing their worth, in allowing all of these in. God forbid they actually do their job, and irritate some importer. Just looking over the fact sheet, the things should be vulnerable in the spring, to Imadaclorpid, Pyrethoids, and the milder Organophosphates. I...
