A good Tach can be found at TinyTach.com I purchase one for around $75.00 Inductive and it works great. Nice people to deal with also.

    synthetic oil

How come no one uses or talks about OPTI 2? I have been using this Oil with good results so far. 1 gas can mixed at 75:1 for: Ice Auger, Husky 165BT blower, Husky 346 and anything else that used 2 cycle. The Ice auger runs seems to run better with the leaner oil mixture.

100:1 killed only the best saw

Running 100:1 is tricky in that the carb has to be ajusted pretty dam near perfect when high loads are put on the saw. Running high ratio syn's are best ran slightly richer to make up for if the saw is running a bit lean. I like running opti II at 70:1 for less emissions. I seem to be more...

    Fire Wood Moisture Content

Does green wood take longer try dry out opposed to seasoned wood that has been stacked and has repeadedly went thru the dry/wet cycles of rain? I have recently came across a few cords of "seasoned" wood but seemed a bit heavy, The wood is all checked on the ends and is sun bleached.

    Husky vs. Stihl

Hexan,A little off the topic but, when you cut into these tropical wet woods with resins do you have to be careful breathing the chips/dusts? Last year my brother brought back some nice dark wood from Costa Rica, and while I was cutting it on the table saw I started feeling lousy and just about...

    What's a used Stihl MS260 worth?

I am amazed on how much time is spent on discussion about varances and flaws of the 026. The 346xp is the obvious choice when perchasing saw in this CC range. Saw loyalty is amazing!!!

    husky warrenties

When I purchased my 346xp last year the Manual stated commerical use warranty was 1 year. I had the same part break with 2 weeks on my saw. There's a lot of sleazy saw dealers out there.I would find another shop to have your saw serviced at. The warranty coverage is not subjective at a good dealer.

Trimming stumps off at the ground

I found in my area that just giving the stump a quick "scruff" with a wire brush helped quite a bit. Many times I would notice a small pebble roll out of a bark grove hidden with forest debris.

    346 Simple muffler mods.

For now I just want to reduce the restriction simply by increasing the hole in the back of the muffler. A while back this diameter was mentioned, but I can't seem to locate it thru previous threads.

    346 Simple muffler mods.

Now that I have had my 346 for a year warranty issues no longer concern me. I'm ready to open up the muffler. What size should I increase the hole to.

    346 RPM carb ajustment

I forget what the Husky spec was for ajusting my 346 carb with my Tachometer. Does any body know, or can direct me to this info. Thanks.

    Leather Bar Scabards

I can't seem to locally find a leather bar scabard. Are they still available out there?

Narrowed to 4 saws (feedback please)

Hey there, make sure you consider Husky's 2 year warranty opposed to Stihls 90 day. Not to mention the $hitty carb on that 026 you will have to replace for $80.00.There's a lot of "blind loyality at this site be carefull!

    920 piston has heat discoloration

Scotchbrite pads or rotary discs work well in combination with any good carb cleaner on dissembled parts. 600 or 1000 grit tri mite paper for real stubborn areas, just wash down after completion.

    McCulloch

Just the other week after felling a nice 23 Dia red oak my brand new 346xp Husky sprocket broke. It was Sunday of course. I had to finish the job with my back up "Eager Beaver 16". The saw looks like a toy and produces a snicker from any one that sees it in action. It however has at least 35...

    Husky clutch removal

Dennis, Why would you tighten a clutch any more than snug? I'm figuring the Chain cutting resistance is all that is required. I'm I missing something?

Could someone explain Stihl's pricing & saws?

Ryan, you where praising the $hit out of the 346 not to long ago. What problem have you encountered, to cause this "about face"?

    Why I Don't File

All the file angles aside, Is it a fact that a finely filed tooth is superior to a slightly course serated tooth. I would like to see a comparson of the teeth after 2 cuts thru a log. I believe you will find the edge very different.

    Husky clutch removal

At first glance I thought you were refering to modifying a 2 3/4" socket to line up with the clutch depressions. Now I see. Thanks.

    Husky clutch removal

So... with my impact wrench "clockwise"pressing firmly onto the socket and clutch... zap... and its loose. Any need for a rope in the cylinder? Is the clutch on very tight? I'm afraid the socket is going to "skid off? I'm I being over cautious?
