    could it be the crab

Place the saw next to a pile of wet sand overnight, that should do the trick. :)

    could it be the crab

Those crabs are nasty tempered critters at best of times. I bet he's overheating under there and has found a remedy. Its possible he's learn't to pinch the fuel line with those pincers of his and starve the engine of fuel. :hmm3grin2orange:

    Ms460

Just a thought, maybe this could help. Have you checked if the carb diaphragm is fitted facing the wrong side up, or down. I bought a s/h 024 that i thought had a crank seal air leak. When revved, it took ages to settle back down and was very erratic. Turned out someone had reassembled...

    Carbon Analysis On Piston Crown

This may be of interest to some of you, i have a Stihl KM130 combi that gets used for grass cutting/trimming, hedge cutting and also a little path clearing with blower attachment. It's over 1yr old now and usually only sees light use. Anyway, after the first couple of tanks of mix using...

    Carbon Analysis On Piston Crown

It could be the Super unleaded fuel, like some have suggested. Maybe some fuel's don't burn clean with certain types of 2 stroke oil ? an additive miss-match ?

    Carbon Analysis On Piston Crown

A very interesting thread indeed. Motul 800 Off Road is a (single ester) based syn. oil with spl cleaning additives for moto cross engines that do not get stripped down as often as roadrace do. Motul 800 Road Race is a (double ester) and from what i remember reading, it does not keep...

Yes, this really is a great site with some colorful characters also. It was a great learning experience coming on this site for me. Lots and lots of info from people who know saws inside out.

    Stopping overfired stove

Why not just use dirt/soil from the garden, good for damping out fire if no sand is available.

Picked up a new MS170 today.....

Lewis, they do or did sell em here, but it has now been replaced with the ms171 which is a better saw than the 170. Classic Lawns are doing the 171 with 14" b/c for £165 Don't pay full retail price at your local dealer, they will drop the price if you push a little.

    Efco 152

You can get a Makita 5000 or 5001 for around £360 or better still, a 6400 for £365 Far better saws at a great prices, imo. Try these links : http://www.hobuk.co.uk/acatalog/DCS5000.html...

    busted AV springs on MS211s

Why not just replace the springs and keep on running them. Its no big deal when you consider the amount of use and abuse they are getting. Could be just a bad batch of springs, try new ones and see.

traded cell phone for stihl 200t yesterday

Looks to me like the $20 phone was certainly hot, as for the saw, if its a rough one, maybe not.

    stihl or husky topping saw

That Makita from Baileys is an absolute bargain at that price. I have the smaller 22cc version i use for trimming in the woods when doing path work, small branches etc. Made in Japan, it is very lightweight, has adjustable oil flow and side tensioner. Starts first time from cold or when hot. :)

    ms180 or ms230?

My 180 cuts as fast, if not a little faster than my 024, is lighter too, but i know is cheaper made, i don't need reminding. Like everthing, it has its faults, no saw is perfect. Its a pity ronco got a bad one, the causes of that are unknown, but it happens with all stuff. Some people it...

    ms180 or ms230?

the 180 is even underpowered for it's small size even tho it is looks big enough for a 60cc saw.... the tooless chain adjust is a joke..the whole thing is a joke.... i dont even consider it a "REAL STIHL" :) Stupid quote of the year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dizzy:
