Installing pressure Tank on Harmon Indoor wood Boiler

Thanks for your advice and comments. I fitted my boiler and just put an expansion tank at the wood boiler in addition to the one on the oil system. I put a valve on it so I can take it off-line if I need. Thanks again, and I will let you know what happens. I am ready to burn.

Installing pressure Tank on Harmon Indoor wood Boiler

I have no idea what you mean by atmospheric system. Mine is a SF260. And there is a a water make up valve installed on the oil boiler system. When all valves are open and the wood boiler is burning it essentially is one closed pressurized system. If adding another pressure tank into the system...

Installing pressure Tank on Harmon Indoor wood Boiler

A few years ago I installed a Harmon wood boiler in my barn and tied it into my oil boiler in my basement. Piped it under the drive about a hundred feet. The Harmon is rated for heating up to 3,000 sq.ft. However, my cabin is only about 1500. The unit is great and saves me a bundle, but the...

    Pressure Prob, Any thoughts?

No luck. I have not addressed it, but I think I am going to put a second pressure tank in-line @ the wood boiler. Only one five gall. tank in line at the oil boiler, s which is in the house. My wood boiler is in the barn, about a hundred feet from the house. My Dad thinks this is why my...

    Jonsered Iron Horse

Iron Horse I use one all the time in the winter for pine stand management. For pulp trees its great. For hardwood loads and logs on any terrain that is hilly, forget about it. A great tool for the landowner harvesting firewood. But at the cost of the machine you could buy enough firewood...

    Burning Coal & Wood Together?

I just bought a ton of nut coal to mix with green ash in a Harmon boiler. So I am mixing green wood and coal, but its ash, which burns well green, about the only wood that does. I get the coal cooking and then lay a few pieces of split ash on the top. I think the wood helps burn the gases that...

    Indoor Boiler, Outside?

indoor boiler outside I have a Harmon indoor boiler installed in my barn about a hundred feet from my house. It works great. Only problem is that it sits on a huge poured concrete floor and will sweat in the summer a bit creating some surface rust on boiler plugs and fittings. It only likes...

Burning Nut coal in Harmon SF260

Thanks for the info folks. I abandonded Harmon's directions concerning draft on coal burning, and played around with putting coal in with a wood fire. So far I am having real good results the last 48 hrs. Giving it less draft has helped. Closing firebox door manual knobs to just a hair open...

Burning Nut coal in Harmon SF260

Burning Nut coal in Harmon SF260

I bought a Harmon SF260 late in the season and am running low on seasoned wood. I plan to start burning nut coal in it starting tonight to stretch my wood out. I have a few questions. What is a ton of nut coal compared to split hardwood as far as how long it will last? Is the wood providing...

    stihl 025

No screw. There is just a rubber plug on the end of the handle that pops into a hole. I have replaced the rubber plug on the 025 and it is not as bad as it was. But I have a ms230 that is awful...with the damn thing poping out all the time.
