MS 460 fuel tank carb stud length?

Thanks for the reply Brad! You are def the Stihl god IMHO. I'll have to take the saw back apart and see about swapping the studs. It will be a step backwards, but better then spending a few hrs on the lathe if not needed. :yourock:

MS 460 fuel tank carb stud length?

Question for all you stihl guys. I bought a used fuel tank for my 460 from another member on here, as mine was cracked and the holes for the screws which hold the handle on where stripped. The tank arrived and was in excellent condition just as the member described, so Saturday I tore the saw...

In CT looking to learn to climb aslo Hey guys, I know the thread is a few days old now and I'm not trying to hijack, but If anyone in CT is willing to give me some guidance sometime or let me try some climbing with them I would definitely appreciate it. I'm pretty much in Matt's boat, don't...

Splitter Wedge Will this Work ?

Ideas Make a sleeve to fit the existing wedge and weld the angle iron "wings" if you will onto the sleeve. Then use a bolt or pin to hold it down. If you position the hole correctly it will be above the wide part of the wings, which will split the wood around the pin/bolt. In the pics the...

    Dodge dump truck Build

    Wood Hauler Pics

Here is my hauler '95 F250 4X4 extra cab, powerstroke w/ automatic. Home built dump trailer from stuff I scavenged including an old mobile home frame/axles and hydraulics from a truck with a lift gate. The cat loader and ford tractor live on the farm my girlfriend's parents own.

    Homemade wood conveyor ideas

Chain Matt, You can use hay elevator/conveyor chain or manure spreader chain. Most agricultural outlets or tractor supply type places can get it for you or have it. It can be pricey to get new, so I'd try to find some used. Even better, find an old hay bale elevator and you have a great...

How to identify an MS390 vs MS310

310 v 390 A stock 390 will have a decompression button, while a 310 does not. A 310 can have a larger piston & cylinder put in it and it will be the same size as a 390. A stock 390 has a 49mm diameter piston while the 310 has a 47mm (i think) . My first instinct would be to look for the...

I am looking at inside wood boilers - HELP - Which One?

Indoor boiler Try these guys http://nationalstoveworks.com/furnaces.htm I have a model 500 with boiler configuration and I love it. I have an existing oil boiler with hot water baseboard which this is plumbed into, so as long as I feed the stove the oil never runs, but if I don't make...

    Homemade wood conveyor ideas

Looks good Conveyor looks great, hope it works well. I too am starting work on my own this winter. I picked up a beat up hay elevator for $100. Going to make it into the V trough type chain drive like hundson, but going to make it hydraulic drive as I already have hyd pump and motor. That...

Suggestions for drying logs for furniture

Hey guys, First time posting in the milling forum, I'm normally checking out the firewood area. Got a few questions hoping someone can help me out with. I got 2 real nice red oak logs given to me for firewood, but they are too nice to burn. The bigger log (main trunk) is about 10' long...

    SAE hose dimensions

I believe (90% sure) that SAE size is the number in 16ths of an inch. For example SAE 8 is 1/2 inch, i.e. 8/16 = 1/2. SAE 12 is 3/4, 12/16 = 3/4, etc. I hate it that all the different types of couplings are called something different but are pretty much the same thing. SAE, NPT, etc. I...

Ok thanks for the advice guys. Good to know. I guess I will just be rebuilding them as I was before and keep an eye out for the occasional unit that might need the plug removed.

    Walbro carb problems

Thanks litefoot. That was the problem. Junk under the welsh plug. It was a WT 416. I have not worked on this carb before. I noticed a few differences between it and others I've worked on. It did not have the kidney shaped plate (which is held in by a small flat head screw) that is...

    Walbro carb problems

I'll check out the walbro site. Little more info. The saw is almost new, it has about 10 hours on it. I didn't check the compression, as I don't have gauge, but it feels good. I've run and seen saws with little compression and this is not one of them. As for the crank seal, any way to...

    Walbro carb problems

I'm having a problem with a walbro carb on an echo cs440 that I'm working on for a friend and I'm hoping someone on here can help me out. I've been tinkering with and repairing small and large equipment for about 10 years now and I've probably rebuilt 50 or so carbs by now, so I have a...
