How sensitive is the reed valve because when I inspect the carb I noticed tiny little flakes of paint that more than likely got pulled into engine? :confused:

ok I forgot to put two of the bolts that seal the intake to the reed valve, so I definitely had a vacuum leak. I tried to start it and still got nothing though. When I tried to start it I had the muffler removed and I shot mix directly in the cylinder was this dumb, is that too concentrated?

I have had the same problem with a 70's 031 I'm working on. Take the starter cover off and lube the pulley and make sure it pulls smoothly cause this was causing a ton of friction on mine that disguised as high compression. Matt

I had the entire saw dismantled when I painted because I wanted to freshen up the piston and cylinder. I had thought about going with orange but the saw was stock red and I am definitely glad I went with that. I blevie I may have flooded it last time I am going to try today but its raining a ton...

Hi, I am look to get a reliable compression tester. I've read alot of them are crap even when they are new could you guys suggest some accurate ones you've used, preferably around 30 dollars.

Hi, I have read many post about people repainting bars but I am still unsure of a good way to do so. Most of the guys ive read about were just saying ways they thought would work well, but could someone explain how they've personally done this successfully. Thanks, Matt

I know this sounds stupid but whats worked great for me is cleaning them with soft scrub stove cleaner.

Man poulan sucks everybody is trying to rig together crap (including myself) to adjust their carbs which were improperly set from the factory, next time ill get a husky

Sounds like heat is transferring from your cylinder onto the carb causing the gas to vaporize thus not allowing enough gas to enter engine. Before screwing around with your mixture screws or buying new gas run the saw then once its hot turn it off and feel the carb if its hot thats your problem...

The saw (model: pp3516avx) has never had a problem with the gas cap but recently the thing is super tight but the threads look fine. It takes two people just to close it though. I've tried shooting wd-40 on it and it didnt help, Has anyone else ever had a problem like this?

I would say it was made anywhere from 1970 to 1980. Its probably worth about 100 dollars maybe a little more because it is in good condition for its age. btw nice find those are indestructible
