Home built log splitter number 2

Looking REAL nice! One question though, the placement of your engine (nice briggs btw, and not some chinese JUNK) will it be protected if a log rolls off or something...? I'm digging this thread, how much do you have in it right now, $ wise and with your time, my dad and I are still getting all...

Home built log splitter number 2

Nice looking welds man! I hear ya on the rods, it's pretty wild how fast they go when you're doing a long pass or large gap! Looks great though... Still sucks about your old splitter, don't worry, what goes around comes around, the dudes take took it will get theirs in the end... M.

    New splitter ideas

So, your beam is 4" wide 8" tall and only 1/4" in thickness? That is pretty thin, when you put down the kind of power that you are talking the beam won't be able to handle it when you hit that second stage on your pump when it kicks down fighting with a big log. The splitter that my dad and I...

    One ticked off person!

Good call about the auto-notifier, here is the web site: http://heycraigapp.com/ Fill it out with your email and log splitter at the top of the form and everytime something comes up with that in the title you'll get an email. Might be helpful! Good luck and I hope you find these rat-bastards...

    One ticked off person!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure you put LOTS of hours and money into making that splitter. I know how much work it was to help my father build a log splitter, people don't think about all the costs involved, welding, steel, electricity, cutting, fitting, testing, etc... All that, and...

Building a new tow-behind splitter from random junk.....

I'm interested. My father and I are going to be doing the same thing. The old splitter that we built is going on 20 years and it's time for a new one... M.

    new 7900 today

I thought that I would add my $0.02. My dads 7900 and my 7900 both ran f'ing awesome right out of the box. We didn't touch any settings and ran them pretty hard from the get go. My saw had about 10 or so tanks through it when it broke in and felt nice. Great saws, I love using it. Make cutting...

    Husky 450 e-series

Weird about the starting issues but maybe it could be the way you store it. My 450 starts all the time perfectly cold... It's def. cold blooded for a little while but once it warms up she rips nicely... Mine too would drip some oil too in the begining of the saws life... But that has seem to...

    Husky 450 e-series

Will like to hear what you think. I'm pretty happy with my 450, been a good saw so far and I've put it through quite a bit of work... M.

    Husky 450 e-series

Heh, I just don't like tool-less stuff... I feel better knowing that my bar is locked down with a nut... Having said that, I'm sure Husky made a decent tool-less design, I sure hope it was better then the Poulan that I tried a while back, that thing sucked a F!

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

WOW! Awesome stuff man, sounds like the guy that you hooked up owes you more then a few cold ones! I appreciate your support and opinion, I'm in total agreement with you that it's not worth messing with. I don't mind doing the little stuff, but this big junk is WAY out of my league and I don't...

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

Yeah, they did do a nice job... It was in Jan. so the ground was good and hard, plus they had a powerful chipper... There was a lot of good wood there... Some of the rounds were so big that I needed to bring my tractor to lift 'em... I'll have to post some pics later on... Time to service the...

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

Good idea about calling the local dudes. I did this and a few took my name and number and a few others pretty much were jerks too me... Weird... I also called our city to find out what their tree work was looking look and I guess the are taking down a lot of Ash trees this spring and summer...

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

Yeah, there are quite a lot of CL ads that talk about removing wood... I think most people listing them have no idea of the dangers and execution involved to dropping a large tree. They probably think, "doh, free wood, come get it!" So yeah, I'll mention to this guy that if a pro tree service...

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

Yeah, that .01% would have the tree roll weird and crash right through the neighbors house or something... Not worth it... Too big, this guy is going to have to let the pros handle this bad boy... Now, don't get me wrong, if this was in a farmers field, I'd try it... But in city limits, this...

Tree Job, what are your thoughts...?

Thanks for the welcome, great site here, great peeps as well... Yeah, don't feel like dying, this job will be a walker for me... Too much to worry about and I don't think it's worth all the bad things that could come out of this one... Yikes... M.
